I ALWAYS get sleepy around 2 PM while im at my desk - im assuming it is because my belly is full from lunch

i eat healthy and only about 300 calories for lunch so i know its not because i ate too much

The 5 hour energy commercials address this exact issue. You aren't alone.

I always say I'm half worthless by mid-afternoon. Are you also a "morning person"? Because I am, and I find that this is just the balance for me. I've found that getting up and taking a walk and planning some caffeine for mid-afternoon helps me a LOT!

Also, I plan my workday to make afternoons where I do less intense activities, so this doesn't affect my work. However, does anyone else do the opposite (where you try to plan MORE work to fight this)?

More likely you are not eating enough, the natural slump if you believe in circadian rhythms, what you are choosing to eat for that 300 cals or earlier in the day. Do you sleep plenty and restfully? What are you eating for breakfast and lunch? Any coffee? Are you physically active at lunchtime, even just get outside for a walk, fresh air, boost the circulation? Do you get the recommended 10,000 steps every day?

Human body needs far more than two micronutrients for energy and a healthy metabolism, it needs a balance of them all. Randomly supplementing one or a small group can set up imbalances and worsen your health. Drinking coffee disturbs sleep quality even many hours later because the half life is six hours, it also messes with the blood sugar via adrenaline and can cause crashes. Candy will peak your blood sugar, cause a rush of insulin and potentially an energy crash.

Get up and go for a short walk or do some jumping jacks. Just get your heart rate up and your energy going.

I have to add anyone as a friend who knows what "The Itis" is!

I used to get that when I ate heavier lunches with a lot of bread and when I ate meat. If you eat heavier foods then the body has to work harder to digest it, and divert the energy to that function. So eat something light and have something to eat in the car for when you get hungry later.

The only thing I learned from Herbalife
