Special K Fitness Challenge?

Hi there! My husband loves Special K and their cereal, breakfast shakes and he even buys their bars. I never really looked into it when I eat the cereal from time to time, but this morning I glanced on the back of the box and it says you can lose 6lbs in 2 weeks by replacing 2 meals (breakfast & lunch) with 2 of their products (I would do cereal and a shake, I'm a busy mom!) and then have a normal dinner like always. Has anyone ever tried this and can tell me if it's legit? Or would I just be starving myself? It's not like we would be wasting a lot of money on their products, because like I mentioned my husband already buys most of them anyhow! Thanks!

It is only legit because you will be eating in a calorie deficit. You can do the same thing and lose weight eating real food, as most of us on MFP do. Special K products are high in sugar and don't offer much nutritionally, other than being fortified with vitamins and minerals. It is a great idea created by the Special K marketing folks to make you buy their products, so kudos to them.

It's the same meal replacement gig as Slim Fast. Besides, people will often lose more than 1 lb/week when they first start out. I've only been doing this for two weeks and I think I've technically dropped 8. It isn't really teaching you to eat better or watch your calories so once you stop doing that you'll just gain it all right back.

Also, especially with the cereal check your portion sizes. I used to have a bowl of Special K for breakfast, one day I weighted it and realised I was eating a triple portion. A portion of Special K is about 3 spoonfuls, and I would be starving....
