First off I am doing this the healthy way. Working out 5-6 times a week with a rest day. Eating 5-6 times a day at around 1450 cals a day. Looking for advice from people who had success with that much weight lose and doing it without harsh diets like cleanses and cutting down my calories to under 1200 daily. I don't want to be skinny or skinny fat, I want to get fit and lean. i'm ready for hard work again with a no bull attitude. The last time I lost weight, I was down 80 lbs by doing only cardio and going vegan. It did work however, I like meat and cheese and bread (not that I can't just get the vegan version, but I found it very hard to get everything in my diet that I needed), and I like lifting weights. So needless to say that way of losing weight was not for me.
Any adive and tips on getting fit and lean would be great.
Ohh, and i\m guessing my weight to be around 135 lbs with muscle. Wondering what other girls with muscle and around my height weight and measure in at.

Hey! Good for you! I don't have any snappy one liners to give you - but just to say that take one week at a time, make smal changes where you can, track what you eat, build up and adapt exercise over time and you'll get there! I started off at 214lbs around 9 years, ago - lost 30 of that within a year or so - had two kids and continued to loose - am now at 163 (went up a bit over Christmas) and still have a good 23+ to lose - hence joining and tracking on MFP.
Good luck!!0 -
Good for you for doing it the healthy way! I lost 50 pounds in 2012 the healthy way. I started the Couch 2 5K and ran my first half marathon last October. Finding an exercise that you love and are passionate about is the key. Also, just trying to eat healthy as a way of life and not thinking about it as a "diet" worked for me. Good luck! You can do it!0

Buy a food scale and a HRM. Find and understand what your TDEE is. Know what's water retention and what's actual fat gain. Find exercise programs that work for you, if you want to be lean you need to lift heavy weights. If you want to be efficient, count every calorie you put into your mouth. Also, understand this is a long term deal... if you want the results you're going to need to put in the work. You seem to understand that already though, so that's a start!
Good luck! :bigsmile:0 -
1) Make sure you eat breakfast. Skipping breakfast is the worst thing you can do if you're trying to lose weight
2) Don't beat yourself up if you eat too much, don't work out, etc. Life happens
3) Make sure half of your plate is fruits/veggies.
4) Running intervals is the fastest way to see results, but it's not easy
5) I'm sure you already know this since you want to strength train, but you cannot lose weight without strength training. It builds muscle, which speeds up your metabolism, which helps you burn more, etc. etc.
I'm also 5' 4", so I know what it's like to be small. You gain 8 pounds and go up a pant size. It sucks sometimes! I'm a Type A personality so I made myself set a workout schedule that I absolutely stick to, no questions asked. If you get sick, obviously, it happens. I live in the South and fried food is like a religion here, so it's hard to stick to a diet, so I just grill everything. My main piece of advice would be to not see this as just a part of your life where you will lose weight and then BAM, that part of your life is done. It has to be a change that lasts, because if you lose all your weight and then go back to your old habits, it will all come back. It's so much easier to gain weight than to lose weight. Some people say working out with friends helps, I prefer these apps/websites where you can connect with other people but you don't have to attempt to hold a conversation while sweating it out at the gym.
I'm about 130-135ish, depends on the day and how much sleep I get I'm not muscular (working on that, hence why I'm here!) but I'm a size 8 in jeans, small in tops mostly, 34C, ummm...can't think of any other measurements. Hope this helps!0
