I'm 26, 5 ft 6 in and weigh 11 stone 10lb and considered overweight.

Im a very odd shape, i had a baby 8 months ago so could be why im an odd shape,

My problem is that i binge eat! I have a weakness for crisps! And i just keep piling on the weight cos of it.
I get down at times cos i can never find any clothes to fit me properly and its really affecting my confidence!

How can i control my eating habits?!

If you know you have difficulty controlling yourself around crisps, then don't keep them around. If they're not there, you can't eat them.

    some suggestions...
•make sure you are getting the nutrition you need from the food you eat. sometimes we keep eating because we lack proper nutrition, calories aren't enough, we need actual nutrition (protein, good fats, fiber, etc). If we just get empty calories (like from chips) our belly might be full, and we might have had enough calories, but we haven't actually satisfied our hunger for nutrition.
•If you think you are getting proper nutrition, and you still can't stop eating, you need to explore why. Emotional? Bored? Tired? Find other ways to handle those emotions. I love this saying I saw on a refrigerator: " Whatever you are looking for, it isn't in here" that's my mantra I repeat when I've got the urge for something that doesn't fit my goals.
•don't keep that stuff in the house, and make a habit of NOT buying it. Really, one of the biggest challenges is walking past things without buying them. Once I'm home, if it's not there, I can't have it! I feel a crazy sense of pride when I manage to make it all the way down the chocolate aisle without throwing a few things in the cart.

If you really cannot control yourself, you should seek professional help.

    Some steps to try first:
-as already stated, DO NOT HAVE THEM IN THE HOUSE. I saw an interesting perspective lately, that your house should be a clean eating haven. You can have the junk occasionally, when you go out.
-also already stated, cravings sometimes indicate a lack of nutrition. Crisps could be an issue with electrolyte balance or fat intake, if you are trying to eat super low fat.
-Follow a diet such as South Beach, Mediterranean, or any other that sets out guidelines for eating lots of veggies, lean meats, and healthy oils, with occasional fruit and whole grains. Many people find that if they can stick to the guidelines for a week, the cravings begin to subside.

The binging has nothing to do with the food. We binge because we are trying to self medicate. Keep a journal (if that works) and figure out what is triggering your binges and then change your actions when you are feeling like you want to binge. Replace binging with something that is not food. What finally stops binging, is deciding that you want to be healthy more than you want to eat crisps. No one but you can make that change. When you're really ready - you will lose the weight.

Rule #1 for me is don't keep "trigger" foods in the house. For me, these include:

potato chips (I guess those are crisps?)
    tortilla chips
    salsa
    cheddar cheese
    sodas

Not that there is anything wrong with these foods in moderation...I just tend to not eat these particular foods in moderation. Once I get going on some chips and salsa, I can go until the entire bag is gone and I've plowed through an entire jar of salsa...then I want more, so I grab a big chunk of cheddar and a soda.

Other things that have helped me...grocery shop once per week for the entire week and I always shop when I'm satiated...never shop when I'm hungry.

I binge eat too. Most of the time before going to bed. Worst of it, it is mostly because I am bored...

I'm in the "keep it out of the house" camp. There are certain foods I will inhale if they're within 20 feet of me, so I don't make them, and I don't keep them in the house. If my boyfriend wants something, he hides it in his office if it's non-perishable. If it's a perishable item, we buy just enough for each of us to have a small serving (like a piece of cheesecake).

I definitely think its emotional eating!

But yes you're all right, I need to not have this rubbish in my house. I just get weak. I just sometimes feel that when I eat healthily I feel so hungry. But its all in my head cos im not physically hungry!

Today has been a bad day for eating...in fact this week has! Tomorrow is a new day!
