Trying to figure out how much I should aim to weigh

I'm 5'7 and clothes shopping and I have no idea what a dress size 6 or 8 looks like, or how much I should weigh to fit into either. I'm nineteen and I just recently started to give a **** about how I look so if anyone could help me out with pictures of people around my height / ideal size that'd be awesome. Any kind of information would be great really.
From what I've gathered a size 4 is model thin, 6 is regular person thin and 8 is a bit chubby. Am I off?
Also hi. My name is Eizabeth.

depends, what country are you from and different body shapes look different at different sizes, muscley or not etc etc. If your looking for weightloss for health reasons i would suggest setting finding out your bmi and go from there, its now a hard and fast calculator but unless your massivly muscley it will give you a rough indication on where your weight should be x0

I think if you're going to put in the effort only you can decide what your own physique would look optimally... people tell me I don't need to lose more weight... I am perfectly fine with the WEIGHT I am, but I am not fine with how I look. I want to shed off another 6%+ more body fat.0

Hi,
As someone said, it depends what country you're in as to what sizes are considered "Normal" etc.
I'm in the UK and I think most people would agree a size 10-12 is a very nice healthy weight, but it really does depend on your individual body shape and stats.
You may like to have a look at this website which shows lots of different bodies at different sizes and shapes, to give you a rough indication http://www.mybodygallery.com/0 -

ive dieted myself done to 55 kilo/size 8 aussie size which is definitely under weight for my body shape and height, it was so hard to maintain and keep up with not eating to keep that size!!, now im 5'8, a size 12, 69 kilo and feel so much better, i look healthy and have muscle tone, i work out 6 days a wk cos i enjoy it i maintain my shape now, i can, at a size 12 splurge on cheat food, take days off and still be ok.
Its all trail and error, see what works best for you, Eat healthy exercise moderately, weights are awesomee!!! your body willl find a happy place weight wise, if you listen to it, good luck0 -
I'm 5' 7" also and my goal weight is 149. Actually, some calculators tell me my ideal weight is over 155. I know at that weight if I tone up I'll be a size 8 (not chubby!), maybe even fit into a 10 because I have wide hips. (US sizes) I know many people who are the same height get down to size 6 or 4 but they're shaped differently than I.
You can't use fashion magazines as any sort of guide, they generally show women extremely underweight. I think models used to be size 6, then 4, now size 2 or 0 or 00.
So, it really depends on your body type and frame, how much you lose, and what percent body fat you wind up at. Here's a calculator if you want to check it out (there are tons out there and they usually don't agree).
Figure your current body fat %: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/mbf/
Use that to determine your ideal weight with the goal body fat % you want: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ibw/
niknak: Thanks for the bodygallery link! Very helpful.0 -
You're both welcome - it's the best site I've found that's "real women" rather than simulated or essentially just models!0

What you should weigh is based on health not social opinion. Here are the weight tables that have been used for 50 years. http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/met.htm If you don't know if you're small med or large frame google how to figure it out by measuring your wrist.0

Use this:
http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ibw/
You will need to know what your current body fat % is and what you are aiming for.
Generally, you'll start looking like a swimwear model at around 20% bf.0
