I wasn't sure where to post a failure since there isn't a section for those, ha.

Last night I went to a house down the street to meet a new couple that had just moved in. We ended up talking for about an hour and all the while they had a friend sitting on the couch watching tv who had down syndrome. He also participated in the conversation a little bit. Toward the end of the hour he looks at me and says, "he needs to eat more diet food." And he said it a few more times... "he needs to eat more food...diet food." The couple wasn't quite sure how to respond but we all ended up laughing quite a bit.

So I guess the success section of the forum is probably the right place for this. I suppose it's a success because we were all just able to laugh at it. I'm to the point in my fitness journey to where I'm confident enough to not let something like this cause me to second guess myself. It was nice to be able to just laugh!

Are your profile pics current? Because if so, you do NOT need to worry about needing diet food. You look fantastic!

but you're right... it's always a good thing when you can genuinely laugh and not feel hurt when someone makes a comment like that. For the most part, if someone said something like that, I'd still laugh... I might still be at a "before" weight, but hey... I figure I ate all the food that got me here, no need to feel ashamed!

I had a look at your pics. I'd eat diet food off you, so I don't think you need to worry.

I think you having us on.... there is certainly NOTHING wrong with the dude in the profile pics! So maybe the child was simply making those statements to get a rise out of you - or it was pure coincidence and did not know that you had come from an overweight background.

No, its definately not a fail.

    Thanks guys.

I don't mean to be putting you on or anything. I just thought it was funny and my wife encouraged me to share it on here. LIke you said, Amanda, a year ago I definitely still would have laughed, but also probably thought after if that's what other people thought but he was the only one that would actually say it. After putting in a ton of work this last year, I'm glad I'm just able to laugh and not even second guess it. Hopefully that's the way my post is coming off. I'm happy where I'm at in my fitness journey but still have a long ways to go to reach my ultimate goals!

Strawberry...not sure what to say except thanks, ha. : )
