Macro Mystery...

I am new to the whole fitness lingo. I keep reading on here about people "adjusting their macros". This may be a dumb question, but can someone tell me what that means and what "macros" I need to be adjusting? I need education on this...please :/

Fat, protein, and carbs are macro nutrients. Don't adjust them until you learn more about them and understand why you're adjusting them.

Your macro nutrients are your proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Your micro nutrients are everything else, like calcium, phosphorus, iron, all your vitamins, and all the other minerals. Macro nutrients are used for mostly for fuel, but also some other body functions. Your micro nutrients help maintain body functions, so deficiencies can cause problems.

Carbohydrates are most likely to be used for fuel, which is why you see many fad diets promoting low carb or no carb layouts. Research your macros, and you will also probably come across the different ratios people use. Like for me right now, I do 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fats. When I was building muscle, it was 30% protein, 50% carbs, and 20% fats. So you will learn how your body responds to different levels of intake.

    Do your research!
