Hi all

Trying to find an alternative to my cereals for brekkies as they are high in sugar even though they are special K with muesli. Need to bank more calories for evening meals!

Omeltte with egg whites and lots of fresh veggies
  • I either have one Eggo (Blueberry or Strawberry) and that's 95 calories. Or Honey Nut Cheerios, 3/4 a cup with 1/2 cup skim milk is still under 150 calories.

    Hello!

I have 40g rolled oats made with half water half skimmed milk / semi skimmed milk (total 220ml) I add 1 tbsp of linseed to it and one of the following:-

    Raisins
    Blueberies
    Honey - tsp
Agave Nectar NATURAL Sweeteneder - 1tbsp (only 15cals, you can buy it from Holland and Barrett...it's like honey)
    Reduced sugar jam

It's delicious and you get really addicated to it, I Love it with linseed in now...linseed is good for your bowels ahah and makes you hair and skin healthy :-) you can buy a big bag of t for £2 from Holland and Barrett also!

Alternatively how about Burgen soya and linseed bread? It's very filling, full of goodness and you could have a bit of organic peanut butter on it, some marmite with some light spread...yummy!

    Happy breakfasting!

Porridge made with semi-skimmed milk, then you can always add fruit etc on top - tasty and filling
  • Mini babay bels (cheese) are only 60 calories, taste amazing and are a good source of calcium (or so my doctor says). Some days they are the only thing that keep me on track :)

Note: They are a bit expensive so if you can buy them at a bulk place liek costco it'll help your wallet a lot.

pineapple and cottage cheese, Luna bars, and I found this awesome "Eggy muffin" recipe on this site that is great to make on the weekend and then freeze for use during the week! You just pop them in the microwave. Seeing as how I have to get my boys ready in the morning and don't have time to "fix" breakfast or even pause long enough for a bowl of cereal, I have to have things that don't require alot of time or that I can grab and go and maybe eat once I get to work. I'll send you the recipe as soon as I find it. :drinker:

any fruit of your choice topped with fat free yogurt. one of my fave is 100g of blueberries and 100g of raspberries with 125g vanilla yogurt, is very filling and is lovely and sweet and refreshing. another fave is 100g diced up pears and 100g of pineapple and vanilla yogurt, honestly its so nice its like having dessert for breakfast but all of these total around the 200 calorie mark. you can also sprinkle a tablespoon full of granola on top for a little bit of a crunch - yum!

I like 3 egg white 1 yolk omelette (I add 2% cheese and some thin microwave bacon) ~220 calories.

Also - a great change is a sliced apple and 1 TBPS melted peanut butter * (this is the best idea since the internet!!!) ~ 186 calories.

*Folks who see my post know I constantly rave about this. I'm changing the world one post at a time.

greek yogurt + fruit+ oats = a no fail breakfast or snack.

I love kashi cereal and usually have that for breakfast with berries because i just can't give up cereal. However, on the weekends when i have more time i make this:

1/2 cup quaker old fashioned oats
    about 1/2 a ripe medium-large banana, sliced
    about 4 strawberries, sliced
    1 T sliced almonds, crushed
a drizzle of sugar-free maple syrup OR honey
    dash of cinnamon

*i cook the oatmeal first with water, then 'mash' my banana into the oats while they're still hot. then i mix in the other ingredients. this is only my special variation of a bowl of oatmeal. there's endless variations so feel free to mix your own!

I like 2 of the Jimmy Dean turkey sausage patties (60 cals each) and 1 nonfat yogurt (I love Weight Watchers Cherry Cheesecake! 100 cals). The protein keeps me feeling full but the whole meal is only 220 cals.

Still cereal but thought it was worth mentioning...Im in love with Fiber One Honey Clusters. They are only 160 cal for 1 cup, and I add Blue Diamond unsweetened Almond Breeze for only 40 calories per cup. Very filling and only 200 calories and 14 grams of fiber.
  • Lately I have been addicted to fat free plain Greek Yogurt, and I will either top it with fresh berries, or just a smidge of honey for flavor. So Yummy and a great source of protein. I also will have a 1/2 an english muffin with it for the carbs.
  • 1/2c (measured precooked) whole oats with 1tbsp of flax oil with 1 scoop of protein (I use chocolate it's super yummy!) with a spoonful of dried cranberries. Holds me from 7am till my 10am snack!

That sounds great, I am going to have to try it

Love this idea, those sandwich thins are awesome!
For busy mornings i have a Kellogs fiber plus bar (any kind) and a cup of chobani greek yogurt with half a banana sliced on top. Fills me up, satisfies my morning sweet tooth, and lasts for hours.
  • I eat 2 slices of toast with peanut butter on it...Sometimes I slice up a banana and stick that on there too..

I wish I could find healthy strawberry jam....Im such a kid lol
Oh and I drink an8 oz cup of 1% milk and my normal cup of coffee!
  • 2 Egg whites, 1 whole egg, green pepper/onion/tomatoes/spinach.... Any veggie you can think of. I have also found that SALSA is amazing with eggs! With a peice of whole wheat toast with a small amount of butter. 8 oz glass of skim/1% milk. Protein, carb and fat... Balanced meal - Keeps you satiated longer. I have also heard that banana's are good for appetite control.
    Good luck!
