Had to get a FLU SHOT!!!! Damn.

So it was mandated at my Wellness Center yesterday that any employee that hadn't received the flu shot, had to wear a mask. So yesterday I wore it during a group training class.
I could barely breathe through the mask (we were doing kickboxing).
Anyone caught gets a coaching the first time, and terminated the second time. Masks have to be worn till the end of March due to the outbreak on the East Coast.:grumble:
I hadn't had the flu shot in over 15 years (and my wife and daughter don't get it either and have never gotten it), but had to bite the bullet today because I wasn't going to wear a mask for the next 2 months.

Rant over.

That sucks. I already had the flu, so I don't think the flu shot would help me anyway.

I find it wrong that they can tell people what to do with their bodies.
I'm a nurse, never had the flu shot and will never get it if i can help it.

I feel for ya. I'm not a big fan of flu shots but the rules are the rules I guess.

I always avoid it. I have an intolerance to eggs, so my old doctor gave me a pass. I have a new doctor, that I haven't met yet, so I'm hoping she doesn't push the issue. Anyway, just got over the flu, so it wouldn't do me any good right now anyway. As someone else commented, I think it sucks that they can "make" you get one. Sorry buddy :-(

Sorry to hear that. :( My mom is an RN at a nursing home and they basically did the same there (either shot or mask). She's a vegan, plus has not gotten the flu shot since the '70s because of, well, being a nurse and her opinions on things (it made her really sick the last time she had gotten it too). She was ready to just accept her fate, but luckily the nurse who was going to give her the shot was a friend and she "got her shot." I hate that they force it on people.

My husband has to deal with lots of clients during the first 3 months of the year, and when he started that job, he thought it was best to get the flu shot to prevent being ill all the time.
That was a bad idea, because he was sick and ill and had "only one cold" (which lasted for months!) .
The following year he didn't get the flu shot and was fine all winter long so now he just doesn't ask for it. Gladly he is not forced to do it.
