what's people's opinions of 60 second abs?

I bought one a while back and I've just tried it out and got a nice burn feeling in my middle but is this really a good work out tool? Is there something I can do at home that will work better, at the moment I don't go the gym for money reasons so I need some advice for things that don't cost anything.

30 second abs is where it is at0
-
No... 7 minute abs that's the magic number. 7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. Seven!0

If it only took 60 seconds to build abs, I'd be ripped for at least a minute each hour of the day.

Abs are the easiest bodypart to work at home. Crunches, reverse crunches, leg raises, V-ups, bicycle crunches, etc etc,...you don't need anything but the floor ....HOWEVER, you've probably heard this a million times, but I'll say it again: Abs are made in the kitchen.
In other words, you'll never see those abs until you get your bodyfat down low enough to reveal the muscle. Doesn't mean you shouldn't work your abs though. IMO, I don't care what you do for 60 seconds, that's not enough, unless you're very unconditioned and just can't do more yet. I spend about 8-10 minutes on ab work 2-3 times per week. But a person can do ab work all day, every day, and if they don't get their bodyfat down, they'll never see their hard work.
Best wishes!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Ok wow lots of negative answers, I feel so much better about myself for being mocked0
-
oh and 60 seconds abs is the name of a piece of equipment NOT how long I use it0
-
Let's put it this way: any exercise is better than none, but gimmick exercises tools and programs that are disguised as "easy", "not hard", "effective" etc. is creative advertising.
You asked for an opinion and we sarcastically replied against the program not you. You may be a little over sensitive here.
You want an upfront answer: it's a gimmick. You can get a much better FREE workouts from places like ivillage.com on youtube.

All honesty? Get rid of the gimmicky machine, and buy some decent weights or join a gym. Start lifting to maintain your muscle while doing your cardio.
Yes, people were horribly sarcastic, but then again, you asked for their opinion. You'll find people on here hate gimmicky machines and diets.
Edit: Okay, just read the part where you said money is a factor. Go on Freecycle, Craigslist, Amazon, Ebay, or other similar sites to look for used weights. Those will be way more beneficial than 60 second abs.0 -
60 seconds seems about how long beginners need to worry about doing direct ab work0
-
No one got an opinion?
Yes, i have an opinion but after looking at your post on M&S, it looks like you don't want any opinions that differ from your own.
I think it's an awesome program and will totally help you meet all of your goals. Every person you see with ripped abs uses that program.
I just lied to you. Feel better now?0 -
No one got an opinion?
My opinion is one that would oppose what you are doing but I think I'll keep it to myself since you'd rather not hear what anyone has to say that isn't anything you haven't already decided to do, based on the other thread you started to complain how people are so mean -.-

Hi. I are frum teh oder thred and want to be yer fwiend. I squat 130 for 3 of times and 35lb bench for of the 12 times. Can you do lift more tan meh0

Any product that suggests that you will get results with minimal effort is usually not worth the packaging it comes in. As has been said before, you'd be better off getting in some good cardio and working on your nutrition plan to cut overall body fat which will allow all your muscles, including your abs, to be more apparent.
Even if you can't afford a gym membership, lots of exercises are relatively inexpensive, and there are likely miles of pavement around for you to conquer, I'd spend your money on a good pair of running shoes and get out there, you'll likely find it a better burn all round.0 -

Firstly, what is it?
Secondly, the fact that you didn't get any initial response probably indicates that people don't rate it too highly, but were politely keeping quiet. When you then almost demand a response, don't be surprised if some of them are jokey/ tongue in cheek.0 -
You guys are so mean for telling OP the truth. You made her deactivate!0

You guys are so mean for telling OP the truth. You made her deactivate!
I'm in to say that while I think OP may have taken the comments to heart too much, and paid more attention to negative responses than non-negative responses, I *do* wish people were nicer to newer folks on here. I think it sucks that people are diverted from MFP based on cruddy forum behavior thinking that is what this place is.
I'm glad I used MFP as an app with no forums for my first year or so on here.0 -
I'd never heard of it so I Googled it. It appears to be a tool for adding resistance to crunches. If that's correct then I'm sure it's not a bad thing. And if you did it for 60 seconds a day, you'd likely have stronger abs than if you did nothing for those 60 seconds.
But crunches only work a specific section of your core. Also add some full core exercises like planks, bicylces, pushups (modified or regular), etc.
An ab exercise from the Turbo Fire Core 20 DVD that I love is to do a plank on your elbows, then alternately drop each hip to the floor coming back to plank between each side. Don't let your bum stick up - hold a straight back.0 -
You'll get better abs by doing full body workouts with larger muscle groups. The indirect work burns more calories, giving you a quicker path to abs. And things like squats, pushups, presses, planks, etc all work your abs too.0
-
I doubt she wanted a high five, probably just straight information. I really don't understand why people can't say hey i've never tried that and it doesn't sound like a good program but I've tried THIS and it is amazing.
Just testing0 -
Good lord why are women so sensitive?
P.S. LOVED the reference to There's Something About Mary - classic! :laugh:0 -

But they weren't really that negative and did try to help her. Spot reduction doesn't work and if she has money problems, then she would be better off with a gym membership or finding free workouts instead of getting ripped off by some "miracle workout" with a ridiculous name.
I don't know how to add images, but here's a link to a workout for getting started while watching tv that could have given her better results. http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m02zrfdJLA1r2y1izo1_500.jpg0 -

Wasn't talking smack just joking about the sensitivity levels of women around here. Doesn't look good for our gender when we're always taking everything so personal. The people were not mocking her, they were making references to quotes from a (very funny) movie. And she deactivates her account over that? Man oh man0 -
