Ok so in my diary setting I have it on active as far as my work goes. I am pretty active at work I work at a dog kennel so I am constantly moving. When I get there first thing in the morning I clean all their kennels for about 2 and a half hours which involves using a power washer and than a squeegee. After cleaning I am literally walking dogs for about two hours straight. Than I clock out around noon walk about a mile to a McDonalds and do some studying for a little while and walk a mile back to my work around 2:30 and than walk dogs for about an hour again and than just some light cleaning dishes pick up any messes they may of made. So ya on the days I work I am pretty active but my question is I am only part time I work 4 days a week so I don't know if I should eat less than what MFP says I should because I believe they go off of a 40 hour work week where I only do about 20-25. Like today I am completely off work and I took my dogs on an hour walk but I didn't log it because on the days that I work I do a lot more than that. Should I eat less on the days I don't work or am I just completely over thinking all this? Should I log that hour walk I went on with my dogs on my day off or no? Opinions please

Hi there, it sounds like you are a bit confused!
The best way to get the answers to your questions is to read the first post in this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 and re-read it and then re-read it. Get it engrained into your system so you know what to do.

This is a common question. In my opinion, you should eat roughly the same number of calories each day. You need to a) rest and b) get enough nutrients into your system to be able to recover. Don't think "Because I am not working out, I should eat less" think more in terms of "Because I am not working out, I should eat the same to make it a habit of eating enough each day and ensuring I have enough nutrients for my body".
Should I log that hour walk I went on with my dogs on my day off or no?
Up to you. I personally never log my exercises because I don't really care about how many calories I burn because I eat a similar amount each day. But you should eat back your exercise calories if you do log them.0 -
I don't see the question in there. Dog walking as exercise? Unless by "walking" you mean strapping the dogs to your back and doing lunges, I wouldn't count it at all.0

You walk 3 dogs all over 75 lbs at one time who are not completely leash trained yet for an hour and tell me its not exercise.0 -

Not sure what Maximized Gain's point is :noway: ?
Hi - I appreciate what a calorie burn dog walking can be especially if you have a puller or two!
You work heavily four days a week and not so active for three I presume.
If that is the only exercise you do - and you are not also doing other exercise which needs to be included into the equation - I would set your base activity to Moderately Active for every day and you then should come out right as a weekly average. Try it for a few weeks and watch your weight - if it increases, step your activity back until you get a steady weight decrease.
Also make sure you are eating enough calories to fuel your week or your body may hold on to fat you are trying to lose.
If you do other exercise, add them to your Exercise log.0
