I find that I really only ever listen to music when I'm working out. I try to just watch TV, but I get too easily distracted. So I'm looking for some good recommendations for music to workout to. I mainly use an elliptical trainer and the treadmill, so I'm looking for some good upbeat music that can help me keep a good pace. I'm really open to all types of music so I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone listens to. :-) Thanks for any responses in advance.

  • I find that listening to things like the Black Eyed Peas really gets me moving.
  • Well, A good upbeat type of music is techno. I don't really care for it myself, but it will keep you moving.!!!

Linkin Park, Disturbed, ACDC, Dropkick Murphys, Journey..stuff like that...
and cheesy 80s pop songs, my guilty pleasure...

If you have your comp close and can have it on while you work out I would say pick a band you like that keeps you moving and then plug it in to Pandora and let it pick bands who have the same sound.

I am so with the 80's hair bands. They just get you moving.

I have my laptop in front of my treadmill and do the same thing with Pandora. Plug in headphones and it becomes a GIANT, UNLIMITED iPod!

I know that every time I play Nickelback God kills a Llama but lately I love love love that new one Burn It To The Ground. I listened to it in the race I ran yesterday and it was awsome!

I'm seeing a lot of great songs on this thread that I have forgotten about (Hello, Canned Heat!!!!) so I just opened iTunes to get them! Here are some from my playlist

Dave Matthews - You and Me (I crossed the finish line yesterday with this song playing. It was my first fun run!)
    B52s - Roam
    Lifehouse - Halfway Gone
  • All good options.....time to make a playlist
  • When running, I mostly listen to Pennywise, the Ramones, the Sex Pistols and Raga Rockers. I think a lot of their songs has a nice beat that keeps me going at a good pace.
