GUILT! It doesn't end even after you hit the goal...

So I've been on maintenance now for about 2 months, holding tight with no issue (actually, I'm about 2-3 pounds below where I want, but it's tough to embrace the idea of "gaining" at this point, as many of you can relate)..... I decided for lunch, just because it's been months since I even had anything in the STRATOSPHERE of this meal at the office, to have Tso Chicken, Fried Rice, Wonton Soup... the whole shebang..... 1500 kcals EASY.... AND, I had half a 12 inch (thin crust cheese) pizza for dinner. Listen, I'll be right back on the wagon tomorrow, but I have this feeling like I'm leaving Vegas after losing my shirt at blackjack.

  • It is ok to cheat once in a while to reward yourself and to remind yourself of why you work so hard.

Our bodies are not designed to eat like kings every day, like everyone mostly does. We are meant for healthy, balanced and controlled diets. A bad diet brings about bad manners. This is scientifically proven with rats fed with natural organic food in comparison with normal unhealthy food. They become violent, irrational, and dumber while in the maze. If you need me to actually source the experiment I have the book lying around somewhere which I can find.

    Keep working hard.

I'm sure you already know this, but the problem is not a single day or meal. The problem comes when you repeat this type of day several times a week over months and years. That's the thing about dieting, it's not like quitting drinking or smoking, where you quit the habit completely. We still have to eat.

Thanks for the advice =) Definitely makes me feel better about today
  • I am terrified of getting fat again!! I realize how easily it can happen.

My advice is this. Take breaks (but set defined boundaries eg give it an end date). If you gain weight on a vacation, over the holidays, because you had a stressful few weeks. Deal with it right away... this is where dieting has its place in the long term, returning you to your maintenance weight.

Find new goals to keep you focused. Set some fitness goals (run a 1/2 marathon), or try to improve other aspects of your eating (eg eat more natural foods). It is much easier to keep from backsliding if you have a goal

KICK *kitten* and DON"T GET FAT AGAIN!
