I have heard so much varying stories about water & weight loss. Some people have claimed to have just flushed away the fat and pounds with lots of fresh water drining. Others have said that they retained the water and it didnt help them lose,or even hurt their weight loss.
What is everybody's experience here? I know that the common belief is that you are supposed to drink 64 ounces of water a day.I also have heard that you should drink even more if you weigh alot more. What if you drink alot more? Can you drink it thruout the day? I am drinking it,but am not really a big water fan. I drop in a little lemon juice to spruce it up. I try to drink 64 ounces as early as possible and get it out of the way,then I drink a glass with every meal. Opinions please.....thanks

I also read that drinking really cold water is the best becuase, your body has to warm it to body temp,which boosts metabolism/temp,etc and cause you to lose weight in the process. Is this really true?0

I am not an expert but I do know that when I drink at least 64 oz (I drink it hot or room temp) I do not feel as hungry and lose weight. I think that your body needs a certain amount of water to maintain itself and most people don't get enough (think they are hungry when it actually thirsty). Personally, I tend to eat less when I drink it but the downside is going to the bathroom more frequently. Hope it helps...good luck on your weight loss :-)0

I agree,I have drank 40 ounces so far in the last 2 hours, and have been to the bathroom 3 times.0 -
When you initially drink lots of water your body will adjust the amount it retains so you'll have initial weight loss from water.
If you drink water instead of consuming calories, you are kosher.
I don't believe the cold water theory amounts to many extra calories burnt per day, but I have no sources.
Don't go crazy drinking water, drink when you are thirsty. Maybe drink when you are hungry. Don't force it down.0 -

Drinking 64 oz in one sitting isn't doing you much except cause diuresis. Also commonly overlooked is the water in the food you eat. If you eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables:
Apple = 84% (116g)
Banana = 74% (85g)
Broccoli = 91% (40g)
Carrots = 87% (63g)
Cucumber = 96% (50g)
Potato = 79% (88g)
Strawberries = 92% (136g)
Tomato = 94% (115g)
That's the amount of their weight in water.0 -
Drinking water only is not the ultimate solution for loosing weight. It just help for loosing your weight. If you really want to lose weight then you should maintain proper diet plan and follow it strictly. Apart from this you should also do regular exercise, avoid junk food and alcohol then only you will be able to lose your unwanted weight.

I've never heard of losing weight by drinking water. All it does is fill up your stomach and curb hunger. It has no calories so you don't gain weight except for the time that it stays in your body. Water is good for you, period, that's it. If you want to lose weight you'll have to take a different approach. Heavy exercise isn't necessary. There are many ways to lose weight. Everyone is different. Some works for others and some don't. You'll have to find what's best for you. I have always drunk a lot of water. I don’t even bother tracking it on here because I easily drink about 2 litres a day – it’s just a habit.
I still got fat! I think there’s an idea that drinking lots of water will magically prevent you from putting on weight but it’s just not true. Obviously being dehydrated isn't good for you but drinking loads of water won’t make your body shed fat!0 -
I know this from personal experience, when I don't drink the recommended amount of water per day per this calculator http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm or close to it, my weight loss slows and often stops, even though I'm still eating at the same deficit and working out. So, while many on here have no respect for personal, anecdotal experience, I thought I'd share that anyway. For me, it does make a difference.0
