In the beginning of yourweights Loss and/or if you have a lot to lose, yes, this is healthy. A good portion of it is likely water weight.

If you have a lot of weight to lose, which it looks like you do, then yes, it's healthy. Congrats!

Sure if you just started, some is probably water. Other possibilities that would make it not-unhealthy would be the release of monthly cycle weight or weight retained due to exercise that was released (I still haven't figured out when or why my body decides it's cool to turn a couple pounds of exercise water weight loose, it just seems to be random).

If you lost four pounds because your deficit last week was truly 14,000 calories, though, that is usually considered a bit much.

When I first started my weight loss I lost 7 lbs in the first week and then 3 lbs the second week. I'm not losing sleep over it as my body got rid of a lot of waste that I was carrying around, which I'm happy about because I'm watching what I eat, drinking my my water and making sure to put my needs at the top of my list. I've been at my weight loss since Jan 1st 2013 and have lost a total so far of 12 lbs. Its certaintly slowed down which I'm happy about, but if it starts to really worry you I would recommend seeing your doctor for some advice and to make sure you are okay.

4 pounds of what? Fat? Water? Amputated a foot?

If you are eating/sleeping/exercising/etc. enough, then not to worry. Keep doing what you are doing. If you sat on the sofa, stayed up all night, and ate nothing but lettuce-then it's not a healthy way to go.

    You're doing just fine. Congratulations!

Your doing fine, your healthy & you don't need to see a doctor, now when TOM comes around... the scale is another scary story, so congratulations on your weight loss.

    Cheers

I lost 4 pounds last week too. I put it down partly to water and partly to the fact that I've been sick all week and doing more sleeping than eating. :P That sort of thing usually only happens early on when you have a lot of weight to lose and later with a weird convergence of circumstances, but it isn't likely to continue. :)

I have lost 4 pounds in about a week. But this is fine as it is my first week. After this, I want to lose a pound a week as that is healthy.

If you continue to lose 4 pounds a week, your body will go into starvation mode as it will think that you are in a famine.

Keep an eye on your calorie intake.

Can't really answer without more info. i lost 5 lbs last week and was getting worried since i normally only lose 1 lb a week, but turns out that cutting excess sugar out of my diet (still eating fruit just no crap) was likely the reason all my weight dropped so quickly. If 4 lbs is a substantial percentage of your total body weight and you continue to lose that quickly then i'd worry but if you level off this week and don't lose nearly as much then no worries.
