I recently have been taking all my fitness off due to a virus. I'm still strength training. I'm very exhausted from the bug so if I need to take a few more days off, I will. Does anyone know if the body will lose the mojo with just under a week off cardio? I had a great vast of energy from my fitness before this bug. doing strength training is grueling so I know I'm too low w/ energy to do more.
Thanks for any responses.

You may detrain a bit. But you'll get right back into it. Rest is more important right now. Feel better.

Make sure you're eating enough in general, you can weaken your immune response by undereating.

Thank you. =) Yes, I'm watching not to go too low in calories. Last night I did, my plan was to eat about 160 more but was so tired and eating is so hard w/ this bug. I am pushing water around the clock, I so miss my normal routine..being sick wasn't the plan.

I've been fighting a bacterial infection and honestly I've just listened to my body. My body needs energy to heal so that's what I'm doing. Hope you feel better.

Jennifer, that's what I'm doing, listening to my body. It takes rest to snap back. =)
Thank you and I hope you feel better soon too!

As long as you get back into it after you recover, you should be fine. I took 3 months off from cardio out of sheer laziness and was back to my normal level in no time. I got sick in December, though and stayed away for about 10 days. The first day back was hard - almost got sick and I wasn't even working at my normal rate. Rested the next day then tried again. Within 3 sessions I was back to normal. Just don't push too hard too fast. Your performance may suffer simply because you aren't completely recovered.

Thank you 'weird_me' I wanted to know that, I just worry my strength is declining. Glad to hear it won't be so bad.=)

A bit. I had a cold at Christmas so I didn't get to the gym for about a week and I definitely felt it in Spin class! It didn't take long though to get back into it and be back at it full throttle!

I had to take about 3 weeks off myself--cold that morphed into a sinus infection. No energy for much of anything other than just getting to and from work. Thank goodness for antibiotics. I'm back to the gym on Monday. I know for myself it will take a week or so to get back up to speed.

I think as long as you are staying on top of your food tracking, you should be ok. Feel better soon and good luck!
