Difference in Calories Burned?

I just did 30 minutes on the treadmill at 3.5 mph. The treadmill says that I burned 210 calories and mfp says I burned 129. Why is there such a difference? And which one is more accurate?

Assuming you put in your age and weight....

Unless you had the incline cranked way up, MFP is probably slower to accurate. If you did have the incline way up, the treadmill is probably more accurate.

Did the treadmill have a hrm function? Did you input weight and age? If yes and yes, it's most likely accurate because of the heart rate function. If not, I'd go with the MFP calculation because MFP for sure already has your age and weight to calculate with.
  • They're all estimates and based on algorthims (sp) I solved that problem by
wearing a calorie-tracking watch. It's more accurate. Try Polar or Sportline. No more
guessing... and it changed everything for me. I seldom count calories going IN...
but i'm always checking what I'm burning 24/7. I wear it night and day.
