Dry skin

Whenever I go into a calorie deficit, I've noticed my skin gets really dry - like white and cracked fingertips dry - and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same experience? I take fish oil supplements, so I can't imagine that I'm getting too little fat. I also use moisturizer on a daily bases. Any advice on what I can do to get my skin back to normal would be highly appreciated

This might sound really obvious but drink lots and lots of water and maybe check you are actually getting enough food to meet your need for nutrients by eating lots of healthy fruit and veg.0

Are you eating a balanced diet? Lots of protein, fruit and veggies? Are you drinking enough water? Do you get any fat into your diet other than suppliments? Is your diet significant different from when you are not in deficit? It certainly sounds like you might be missing out on something in your diet if its not a problem normally.
I use a body brush every morning and eat a variety of all types of food. My skin is healthier than its ever been - and I have stopped using moisturiser except when I want to pamper myself!0 -
Check out my food diary - I eat tons of fruits and veggies, a fair amounts of nuts and oils, and aim for at least 100g of protein a day. And I usually drink at least 12 glasses of water a day When I'm not in a deficit I'll usually just be eating more food, specifically carbs, but that's about the only difference.0

Greek yoghurt honey facial after light cleanse and rub down with brown sugar to exfoliate.
Amazing moisturising cream for hands, feet, elbows is flexitol.
Drink a **** ton more water than you already are.

Must admit my eyelids seem a bit itchy and dry, although overall skin seems reasonable.0

Moisturising hydrates from the outside, drinking water :drinker: hydrates from within. I can tell with my skin when I have not been keeping up with my water content.0

Your diary is not open to view, which is why I asked as I know some people prefer to eat smaller portions of their usual food which may not be balanced. But it sounds like you have a good balance.
How long have you been eating at a deficit?0 -
Oh, sorry! have changed my settings now Been eating at a deficit for about three weeks now, and for the past week my skin has been getting noticeably dryer. This isn't the first time I've eaten at a deficit though, that's why I'm making the connection...0

You should definitely be drinking water to hydrate within. What kind of moisturizer are you using?0

This isn't going to address the cause, but as soon as I get out of the shower (still wet), i slather on some baby oil, wait a minute, then slather on vaseline. Then I dry off with a towel, the excess vasoline will come off (and not ruin towels), and you're left with soft, moisturized skin.
If I take a hot bath, I put baby oil in the water too!0 -
The reason I asked how long was I found the first few weeks my skin was patchy, but it got better - seems that is not the problem for you though as its just started.
Your diet looks great too, so I doubt it that either. Perhaps mix it up a little bit and see if that helps - for example some different nuts than almonds (walnuts or cashews or something), or different veggies every day.
Sorry I can't be much help, hope it gets better.0
