MFPs, slap some sense into me please!

Once school got back in session on September 2012 I gave up on wanting to live a healthier life and lose weight. I stopped regularly exercising and stopped watching what I ate. I resorted to fast foods, drive-throughs, binging and being idle for long periods of time. I have a long history of emotional eating and this is my way of suppressing my emotions. As a result I quickly went from 204lbs to 225lbs in 4 months.
When I saw the number I was very ashamed and disappointed in myself for going back to my old ways. I originally started at 243lbs and worked my *kitten* off to get to 204 and I feel like the hard work that I did didn't really count because I relapsed. I really do want to lose weight, be healthier, stick to sensible eating, and exercise but I find myself giving up after a few weeks or months. I don't think it's that I don't want it enough, because I really truly do want to change but I am still not very motivated to persevere through my temptations and emotions.
Give me some motivational thoughts, words of wisdom, or what you do in these circumstances - anything helps!

It sounds like you already know what to do. Don't give up! Ever! It is so worth it to lose the weight and be fit. Even if you have slipped up for a day or a week or a month, just get back on the horse asap.
I struggle with emotional eating as well, it's a real issue for me. I have lost 70 pounds though, it just took me a while longer than it should have.
Some tips for those days where you want to just shove the food in (not trying to be offensive, these are things I really have done before). Frozen stir fry veggies with soy sauce, cut up veggies with a low cal dressing, air popped popcorn, big bowls of salad with assorted veggies...these are all things that are pretty healthy and low cal. You can have an entire bag of stir fry veggies with soy sauce for under 200 calories. That is a lot of food. That might not be the best advice, but it does satisfy the need to overeat without hurting your weight loss efforts. And it's sure a lot better than hitting up a Wendy's for a greasy burger or milkshake.
Just don't give up. You will never regret losing the weight.
The great thing about MFP is even if you set your account to 1,200 calories with sedentary, you can work you booty off to eat more.
1,200 calorie goal +600 calories worked off=1,800 delicious calories of food in your tummy. It's great and def. rewards you for working out.0 -

I did the same thing and gained the 20lbs I lost right back. What got me is that I want to feel like myself again. I want to feel sexy and happy and I know it will only get harder with time.. I'm not perfect, no one is... But I have learned to take the bad mess ups and learn from them. I also don't hold myself to impossible standards.
Just take what happened and as hard as it is to get back on track, look at the positive improvements it had made in your life and how great it felt after working out and try to use that.0 -

You're not alone! I went from 205 down to 165....then back up to 203. All in a matter of 3 years. So don't think you're the only one. The thing that I've found is that you must take it one day at a time. Don't get caught up thinking about the end goal. Set small, reachable goals and reward yourself when you succeed. Before you know it, you'll be back on track. Just hang in there!0

Let it sting then get back to work. Don't feel shame, it's a waste of energy. I've been there, done that, and decided to lose the weight again.
Good news. It's easier the second time. I feel less stressed and worried about it. If I don't lose one week I don't have a melt down, I just get back to my exercise, re-measure my food and wait till the next weigh in. We know this works and how to get it done.
Just use this as a turning point and re-focus because in a few months, you will be pass the mark where you left off the last time.

you have to see this as a journey to make a better and more quality life for yourself. You have to give up your bad habits forever and replace them with good ones. Figure out your triggers and start teaching yourself new ways to react to them. Taking care of our bodies is forever, even when you are maintaining. Just remember how great it feels to live and feel your own body. Accept it for what it is and each time you grow out of your old clothes buy new sizes and throw the old ones away so there is no excuse to go back ever. Stay away from fast food. Go to a grocery store instead and pick up some fruits and veggies. Your body will thank you a million times over. xxxxoooo0

Clearly you do want it, but I personally know as well, being dedicated in school is HARD!
If you have the budget, buy premade healthy things. Frozen veggies can be very nutritional and simple. Things like pre washed, sliced carrots, bagged salads, etc, etc can be more expensive but of course if it's convenient, you'll reach for them instead of chips.
Find a friend with a similar class schedule to yours, and become workout buddies. If you know you'll be disappointing a friend if you cancel on her, it'll be one more thing to keep you motivated.
These are the methods that I found worked for me when I was trying to lose weight in university (which I since partially gained back upon graduation, but we'll just ignore that little detail)
