Yesterday while I was doing a cardio workout I was about 20 minutes into the workout and I felt a "pop" in my lower calf area. Since then, it is sore to walk on and I don't want to push it, but just wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions on how to get it to heal quickly and prevent reinjury. Thanks so much.

Go get it checked out!!!!!!
Seriously, please don't just ignore these things as although it is most likely something minor that can be solved with a little rest it is always smart to get it checked out before you end up doing more harm to yourself....:flowerforyou:

I did the same thing two years ago, felt the pop and crawled upstairs. Keep it up, on ice and take some anti-inflammatory drugs ( motrin, advil) and see a doctor tomorrow. There are a lot of ligaments and tendons in that area and they will figure out which one and how bad.
My primary sent me to an orthopedic. You will need to take it easy for awhile to let it heal. Good luck.0 -
Wrap it in an ace bandage also, try and keep it elevated.
Start planning no impact exercise.0 -
A pop indicates a muscle tear. Since you are still walking it's probably a minor one but you could get it checked to be sure.
Do not stretch until it doesn't hurt anymore. Stretching before it heals just keeps tearing it again. Apply ice the first 24 hours and heat after that.
The only cure is time to let it heal. If it's minor it will probably heal in a week or so. A major tear could take weeks or months to heal.
Take it easy on the calf for a while so it doesn't tear again. It will soon heal up as good as new,0 -
Thank you for the response. I have some anti-inflammatory cream I used for a sprained toe joint. I think I will apply that and use some heat. Thanks again for the advice. Have a great weekend.0

Use ice, not heat. Ice is much better for reducing inflammation, where heat can actually increase inflammation due to an increase in blood flow. And like everyone else said, go get it checked out. If it's minor, then great, but you don't want to end up with a major tear that will take much much longer to heal.0
