Am I getting this right?! I add the number of calories I have burned off in the day to the number of calories I am supposed to eat each day & that is the total I can eat? For instance, I am limiting myself to 1200 calories daily but on most days I burn off at least 600 calories in exercise. So does that raise my calorie limit to 1800 for the day? I just don't want to get into that "starvation mode" thing if your caloric intake drops below 1200! I think that might be my problem! I eat 1200 but burn off 600 so .....is my body feeling starved by thinking it only got 600 calories for the day? This just seems too easy if that is the case. And no wonder I am always feeling starved! HELP!!

One more thing.....are you sure you have arrived at the 1200 calories correctly? I mean, that's pretty low for someone that wants to lose as much as you do. I have about the same weight to lose and my calories should be in the 1500s, and that is without my exercise calories!

People with a lot to lose can actually have a lower daily intake then others--so I've read and heard. I do 1200 a day and that's plenty because my body already has 'stored' energy enough to draw on! In fact, my doc has greened me for 1100 a day if I desire but I've only done that a couple times when I really exercised and simply could not eat all my exercise calories.

It's the people with a little amount to lose that really shouldn't go to 1200 a day because they have no 'back-up'--so to speak.

This post of Banks might help---
