This is day one of tracking my calories. I need this to work. It has to work. My weight must decrease because my marriage depends on it. I know my husband is embarassed to introduce me as his wife. I am embarrassed myself. I let my weight get out of control by eating. I want to look in the mirror and be proud of myself. I need the willpower to do this and do it right.

  • You can do this! I am just starting, too. It is a little intimidating but it will be worth it! I've deciced that my mantra will be... "Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels." What is you mantra?
  • You can do this because you want to do it! This site is great for helping people acheive their goals. By being here I've completly changed the way I eat and think about food. I'm getting into the best shape of my adult life and my husband is finally working out again. Make sure to include your husband in your activites. Before my hubby started working out (he was studying for a test) he was the best cheerleader and kept me going. :flowerforyou:

I wish you all the best! It's not always easy but it's always worth it! Kind of like MARRIAGE sometimes!

    (((hugs))) You can do this.

Can I give you a piece of advice to help you get started?

Plan your food the night before, or first thing in the morning. Pick a few breakfasts, and a few lunches, and a few snacks that fit your goal. Rotate through those for a while, so the only meal you REALLY have to think about is dinner. :)

When you get bored with a meal, drop it and replace it with something new.

The best thing I did for myself, starting out, was to plan ahead like this. It means that I can be on "autopilot" and I don't have to think (obsess) about food and calories all day.

Congrats on making a big decision about changing your lifestyle! You're half the way there already!

If you ever have a bad day..log on here and talk about it! This site really does help! I've been here for only a few days but love the support you get from everyone! Another goal of mine is to write more often on the forum and become further involved in my lifestyle change!

You CAN do this..but keep positive and think of that amazing future you will have =) x

CONGRATS On your Decision. Focus on doing it for yourself, not your sig other. :)

Start by making small changes too, I don't suggest going straight into the 1200 Calories a day thing, you might find yourself in a yoyo diet situation, which ain't good for no one... When I first started to lose, I did small things like cut back on Sugars (Pop and juice - Deserts) and stopped snacking after dinner, if you do something like that for a month (say) you might find pounds dropping ...

I just suggest not going to extreme into anything at first, small steps :) I'ts a life long challenge, so no need to be extreme :) Even start by eating the same things you do (which I'm counting on is not fast food) And having half the portions your used to! then as you start to lose, play around with healthier foods :)

    Just 1 opinion though :)
