Walking

After a long day at work, I feel like I really have to push myself to go on the treadmill. All I want to do is sit or take a nice long bath.

  • I know what you mean, I have the same problem. However, if you exercise you'll sleep so much better, and be less likely to snack or eat anything, all you'll want to do is drink water. Good luck and get off the couch, you'll feel better and be glad you did. LOL

It can be difficult to exercise after a long day at work. You might try doing it as soon as you get home and before you fix yourself dinner. Tell yourself you can not eat until you have done X amount of time. Its a brain game I guess, but it might work. Give it a try and see what happens. Just know you are not alone

Can you walk outside instead of on the treadmill? That really helps me. The fresh air/nature/time to clear my mind is so much more rewarding. If I were on a treadmill I'd probably just be staring at the clock, waiting for it to be over.

in the beginning you will have to push yourself but eventually your body will want the exercise. my tip is go directly from your job to the gym. i know if i go home i will sit around and waste time so i take my gym back with me in the mornings and go directly to the gym afterwards

Push yourself onto the treadmill with the hot bath as a goal/reward

^^ This. You will thank yourself later for pushing yourself now.

Change it up. I find it easier to force myself to get up earlier and do it first thing in the morning as part of a routine.

Can you do it some other time? I try to get my exercise in before work, but if that doesn't work, a lunchtime walk or a walk the minute you get home (my dog has to go out as soon as I get home, so I walk him). And remember, even if it's your only exercise for the day, 10 minutes is so much better than nothing. And once you start, you likely will go for longer.

I only started making myself go for a walk after work last week and now I look forward to going for my walk after work. It helps me wind down. I work 10 hour days usually so I know how you can just feel tired and not bothered, but if you can force yourself to do it for a little while eventually you'll look forward to it.
