I am a trainer as well and I fully agree with you on the high intensity sets. You get so much more out you cardio. I recommend people try and get the bursts in around the house as they go along their day. Do lunges when you microwave your coffee or crunches during the commercial on tv. Before you know it, you have burned a couple hundred calories.0

Great tip especially as the wet season has started & I haven't been walking as often!. If you have any other suggestions I would LOVE to hear them
Thank you :flowerforyou:0 -
This is such a great tip. I do sit ups on an exercise ball. Punch it out during commercials. Push ups against a wall. Started out with 10 fast and working my way up0

This may be a really stupid question - but if you do that, do you have to "warm up" first? I do wonder sometimes about doing ab crunches in front of the TV but am scared to doing myself an injury. We get it drummed into us when we do those workout DVDs about the importance of warm up first and cool down - but is it because it is just 1 min spurts at a time we are already warm from walking around etc? Thanks0

If you are going for something that is very high intensity or an extended length activity, then I would warm up. A few stretches and some jumping jacks will go a long way to alleviate injury. Another tip I have is to really listen to your body. Though it goes against the grain, if you are hurting it is better to rest a day or go easy then be laid up for a week. don't use this is as an excuse though. any time you are going to change up your exercise routine, its going to hurt. there is a difference between oh god i hurt so good and i god i hurt. both you and your body know the difference.0

I totally agree as well. Doing a HIIT workout will burn so many calories throughout your day! I use an at home workout DVD that targets HIIT workouts and love it!!!
