    Haha I grew up saying hot water heater. Finally, one day my hubby could not stand it anymore and explained it to me. I felt like an idiot....but I dont say it anymore!!!

    My theory is that the thing spends most of it's time keeping hot water hot that it's an accurate name for what it does most of the time.
