Hello-today is my first day! A friend put me onto this and I am excited to get started and feel better and stronger. Hoping to run a 5K at the end of May-so I'll have to keep on track for that. Any tips or encouragement are appreciated.

Hello maryellen911, welcome to MFP. One would be rather obvious Hahahaha not condasending, but don't take a break until after that goal of running that 5K is complete, because it's not to far off actually a month at the most so be faithful to your progress & should be able to hit your goal right in the freaken head.lol Good Luck MaryEllen.

Hi there and welcome! I "ran" my first 10K last year and actually enjoyed it...which surprised me because up to that point my motto was "run only if being chased". I think you'll be surprised how great the accomplishment of your first race is and find yourself looking for more. I personally find Active.com has some really great running tips and if you'd like some extra online encouragement feel free to add me as a friend. Best wishes!!!
