Ugh, I feel the same way but then I think! Nope, you are not starving at all! I look in the mirror and I see myself and I think. Not Giving UP!0

Eat more so you can work out. At 1200 calories, if they're starving.. the OP is more than likely undereating.0 -
I started at 1200cals a day too but just was not enough so changed it to 1500cals a day.0

Listen to your body too... maybe the combination of your target weight and how much you want to lose per week is why it's 1200... you can go in and adjust that.0

Remember that you can earn more calories to eat by doing exercise. Making good food choices will let you eat more quantity without more calories. Also, going over your calorie range sometimes doesn't make you a failure. It just means it will take longer to lose weight. Never give up.0

Sometimes you have to realize you will be hungry. You will not starve to death if you are eating properly. But - trust me we all get hungry at times and there have been times I've gone to bed hungry. However, normally if I drink a glass of water, eat fruit or gum it goes away. Like the others said if you are eating too low of cals it doesn't help but once you get a routine it will get better. Hang in there!0

Protein is your friend. So are good fats. 1200 calories is really a good amount but you need to choose your foods wisely. I would eat 4-6 smaller meals a day, each one being 200 calories. Two eggs are 120 to 140 calories (depending on the size). Cook in a little butter (real butter, not fake). I sauté onion, roma tomato, mushrooms and fresh basil in a little butter before adding the eggs. Super YUMMY. Very healthy and... will carry you to the next meal. I eat enormous salads and limit my dressing to 2 tbsp. My favorite dressing is a lemon tahini dressing, which is 80 calories per 2 tbsp. Add a little chicken and you've got another meal that'll carry you. Sweet potatoes are awesome in terms of giving you a "heaviness" in food you are looking for. Pair that with a small steak and there's another meal. Green apple with cheese is another great choice. You shouldn't starve if you pick the right foods. Actually, you should feel nice and full!0

You have absolutely no information other than 1200 calories. Can't really help you other than to suggest eat heavy fiber.0

LOL!0

Have you been successful?0

You're trying to lose 30 pounds. Did you set it to one pound per week? You shouldn't set it to two pounds per week unless you have more than 75 pounds to lose. Setting it to one pound, or even a half-pound, will give you more calories to eat.0

focus on lean meats, healthy oils, and fruits and veggies. you can fill up on a LOT of veggies - if you eat the right foods it will hep tremendously!0

Well, I can't see your food diary so I don't know how you're eating. I thought I would starve on 1200 calories too, but I'm not. It's all in what you eat. Fruits and veggies are your best bang for your buck. Low cal and filling. Maybe increase those?0

If you want, check out this link by MFPer Heliotsdan - It'll give you a detailed walkthrough (with pictures even) on finding your TDEE and calculating what you should be eating.

Also, if you are worried about the calorie intake, I also suggest you read this thread that has numerous people who met their goals and are maintaining. Some for years and they also provide their calorie intake and how often they work out.

For those eating below their BMR (which I think 1200 is below your BMR to be honest), not going to preach at you, but here's something you might want to look at:

Yes, this is can all be overwhelming and complicated , but you are more than welcome to ask questions on the post.
One of the things that I have found that has been one of the best methods for me to get fit is to understand fitness. To understand where all these figures, etc come from.
The good thing is once you get the hang of it - it is something you'll be aware of constantly and you'll get a better understanding about your eating habits.
So I HIGHLY suggest making the effort to take every chance to educate yourself. Even if you don't end up going with any of these methods, calculations, etc - at least you understand what they are, where others are coming from, and maybe they will still be able to help you figure out what is best for you.0 -
This x3. Maybe you have your activity level set to low (I know I sure did).0
