Restaurant Horror Stories

For those of us who have ever worked in restaurants...............we all know there are times that people complain and short tempered cooks happily "fix" the problem when it's brought back to them!!! What is the worst thing you have ever seen done to an innocent by-standers food and it was served to them?? I would have to say mine was knowing.........but I couldn't prove it b/c I only walked in on the finishing touches..............I know I saw a cook pulling a steak out of his drawers when someone had complained! Give us your stories! Maybe we will be so disgusted, we will cook at home more! :-D

That is pretty disgusting. I have not witnessed much myself (I have never worked in a restaurant... though the Waffle House dude that dropped the food on the floor and reached down and put it back on the grill was not very good)... I was told one time that a restaurant (another one in that same town) used to mix their tea in the mop bucket ... same mop bucket they used to clean the floor... Of course I do understand that they DID at least rinse it out most of the time... Then there is the story of the man at a fast food chicken restaurant got fired for loving his chicken before serving it (I won't go any further on that one but, yes it means what you probably think it does)0

My boss at my very first job at a catering service would serve the food to the banquet guests if it fell on the floor. I also saw her clean spots off dishes with her shirt or lick her finger and wipe off dishes that way. She also didn't wear a hairnet or routinely wash her hands when handling food. So freaking disgusting. She was the meanest person I've ever met and the very worst boss I've ever had. One day I got a big tip from a little old man who thought I was pretty cute and she saw it and told me, "okay, that's your pay for the day." There's nothing I could do about it since I was underage and working "under the table." The employees were allowed to eat any leftover banquet food and one day I was eating some leftover potatoes and she said to me, "No wonder you have such a big a**." She had me in tears more times than I could count. I got her back one day and spit in her coffee. I feel bad about doing something like that now, but at the time as a young teenager, it felt so good to get her back.
I also worked at a fast food place and had one coworker who would lick the bun or the cheese of the customer's burger if they ticked him off.0
