Fitness wear...

So I'm looking at what I have and it's probably time to get new workout apparel... What brands do you like? I don't want to go super cheap so that the first time I wear/wash they don't fit correctly anymore but I don't want to spend a ton of money either. Any suggestions?

My personal preference isn't brand but rather material design. I tend to sweat... ALOT. So, I like shirts and shorts that dry quickly and pull moisture away from by body. I have had luck with both Under Armor and Nike for these kinds of materials but other manufactures offer similar products. In socks, I look for the same thing but, I like a little extra cushion in the bottom of the sock. As far a brand, I really haven't found on that I like better than another. However, I do try and replace my workout socks on the same schedule that I replace my workout shoes.
As far as cost, don't try to replace everything at once buy a piece at a time. Wear it and see if it works for you. If you like it, watch for sales and/or season close outs. You can get some great deals then.
Hope this helps...0 -
I personally love Under Armour. I'm not super loyal to the brand, but it's been hard for me to get the other brands when I've grown so used to the material. Just wish it was cheaper.0

I actually bought my stuff at Target. They had a sale a few weeks ago. What I really liked was the fact they had workout pants in "Short" length. It's a PITA to find pants that don't have 2 miles of extra material.0

Lululemon has something for every athletic activity. I primarily buy running gear from them.
The only downside (for some) is the price - very expensive.0 -
I also sweat a lot and I have found that so-called 'wicking' synthetic material makes me sweat more. I always wear a singlet - usually cotton slazenger ones are about £2.50.0

I also go to Target and get Champion for my basic stuff or Kohls. I really like Technical shirts and the ones I find there are fine for me. However, I am finding UnderArmor is the best for my cold weather running so I would personally invest if you are going to be out in cold0

Im a Lulu fan! It is pricey, but it's great quality and will last! Aim to buy yourself one item a month or something so it doesnt break the bank. Walmart isnt too bad either.0

I've bought brand name pieces at TJ Maxx for reasonable prices. I've gotten some Lucy brand (similar to Lululemon) pieces at sierratradingpost.com for deep discounts ($35 for $99 pants).
I am hard on my workout clothes so I don't like to spend a ton of money but do want items that are decently constructed and will last for awhile.0 -

Thanks for sharing this. I think I've followed every MFP thread about fitness clothing, and have never seen this pop up. I've scored some Lucy stuff at TJ Maxx and Marshall's too.
I have some stuff from Old Navy that I like, and have found some great tops on clearance at Kohl's. They are holding up well so far. If you're willing to pay a little more, but not quite Lulu prices, I really like Athleta stuff too.0 -
I LOVE Zella!!0

Lulu dreams. Old Navy budget. A lot of therir stuff is on sale right now...Also, TJ Maxx/Marshalls has good stuff too.
I do get my sports bras from Target. I've tried others but I like those ones the best. Not really a fan of anything else they have.0 -
I'm a thrift store shopper myself. I have found some brand new stuff in top name brands for dirt cheap and they last a long time. My favorite workout pant are Echo brand (Bought them at Goodwill, brand spankin new with tags). I also like the Nike fitness wear because it wicks away moisture better than some of the other brands.0

If I could affort it, I'd do Lululemon all the time. But alas, it's not in my budget.
I buy most of my stuff at Sports Authority....they must have discontinued or last-season stuff because it's the major brands (Nike, Under Armour, etc.) for cheaper than I find elsewhere. Much cheaper than City Sports, for example. And it's also the actual clothing brands...the stuff I've bought at Target, for example, are sometimes name brand but have drastically reduced the quality to sell it at a cheaper price point. Like when Versace did a line for H&M or whatever. :-)
I recently bought some workout pants from Victoria's Secret online that I LOVE. I was shocked. I figured I'd end up returning them for sure. Otherwise the only pans I ever liked was Nike...just something about the material.0 -
I swear by old navy compression capri pants. So similar to a lot of the really expensive brands and MUCH cheaper (also they go on sale constantly)0

old navy is good.
but also check out places like ross, tj maxx, marshalls because you can get name brand stuff for super cheap. i just bought a super cute reebok workout skort for $90 -
I mostly buy the C9 stuff from Target.0

I will buy some of the Danskin stuff from Wal-Mart. But honestly, we have an Under Armour outlet up where I live, so a lot of my stuff comes from Under Armour. I would recommend the Danskin sweat pants/capris/tights, but the shirts just never seem to fit right and once they're washed, they really seem to fit wrong, so I normally wind up throwing them away. I also will just buy plain men's under t-shirts and I wear those to workout in. They're not super cheap, but they sure can take a beating.
Good luck!!0 -
My favs are Lululemon, Old Navy, and Joe Fresh (Canada only I think).0
