Jamie Easons 12 Week Program

Anyone doing this?

I still want to do cardio the first month but it says not to. Why? Will doing cardio change my muscle building results?

Hmmm...Jaimie Eason..didn't know she moved into the mass market diet industry. Anyways..yes it'll slow down your muscle building. if you end up in a deficit from the cardio, you will barely build any muscle at all..which is why she probably has you focus on one thing at a time.

She really hasn't. Her LiveFit program (free) is available on BodyBuilding.com.

Ahh.. that makes more sense. She's a great spokesperson for the site...I would think they make it worth her while.
  • Have you finished her program from beginning to end?
I have been looking for a program that will get me toned and ultimately at the start of a body building stage.
Do you think this is a good program for that?

She's cuter than a bug ear =) Her LiveFit program is great for anyone who has never lifted before. Once you're through with the program you (hopefully) have the tools to put together your own program. Her recipes aren't bad either, I love her pumpkin protein bars!

I would love to do the LiveFit program, unfortunately I don't know enough to convert the gym exercises to at home exercises. I have a bench and a chinup bar plus tonnes of free weights and the long bars but no other machines. Are you doing this at the gym? If not, please report back with your at home substitutions :)

Yes but that depends on how much effort you're going to put into it, and your diet ;)

I would think it's impossible to do it at home, unless you have one heck of a nice home gym!

I do some of her program. I work out at home, so there are some things that I don't have the access to use.

Ran out of room or else I would have that heck of a nice home gym :)
I did find work out at home weight liftng in Oxygen magazine which I have been doing. I love Jamie Eason though.

So what do you do on the side besides her program?

My muscles are weak so just doing all of the moves with my small dumbbells and my power tower 200 works for me.

Have you gone through the schedule, day by day? I don't know how you can modify her workouts for home use, but you may be able to.

The turkey muffins are great! I make them into meatballs too and serve them over spagetti squash, my favorite dinner. They smell funky when reheated though, the guys at work hate me when I snack on them.

No I don't, sorry. I tried working out at home once, it didn't last a week. I have to put my shoes on and go to the gym...it's the only way I'll get it done.

I like this plan and can modify or substitute most things, but the back is the only issue I have. I don't know what to do instead. I am starting this again today, but will plan it out the day before instead of in the moment. When I did the back last month, I lost momentum because I couldn't figure it out before losing my motivation. Lame I know.

I think the main thing is doing 3 sets of 12 at a heavy weight. I know that without following a plan, I do 2 sets of 15, or something halfheartedly. For some reason when I do this plan I am in pain, but if I do it by myself, It's like I did nothing, lol.

SO today is day 1. Anyone else?
  • Day 29 and going strong. I do work out at home. We visit a gym from time to time. I you tube alternatives to exercises I don't have machines for. It has taught me many alternative exercises (especially if you have an exercise ball) I have dumbbells, a weight bench with a barbell, and a pull up bar. I just get creative and give it all I've got.

I hadn't heard of this, sounds really awesome. Maybe cardio isn't emphasised early so not to overwhelm people? I'm unsure but I will keep with my 20 minute runs during it. I will start on Monday!!

I'm on day 10 today. I follow the workout part to a T. The diet: not so much. I do however try to stick with the goal of it. LOTS of protein and low fat foods. I have a hubby and 2 small kids and they would kill me if they had to eat just the things suggested..lol. I love that the program is broken down into 3 stages. It helps keep things fresh in my eyes. Like my first goal was to just get into the gym and find all the right equipment needed. Now I am in there every time with my printout and loving it. Next goal is simple...to finish Phase 1 and do my very best at it!! I love heading into the gym with an agenda. I do a few extra machines sometimes because once I am there I love it.

OVERALL it is a great plan, it's easy to understand, and it works!!!!!

I completed phase one and LOVED it! I was worried about no cardio as well but it totally makes sense and my body definitely showed improvement after following the workout! I started phase two but I realized it really isn't for me anymore since I was at the gym for over two hours which was ridiculous and I was having to modify or delete too many things to make it worth my while. I just bought the new rules of weightlifting for women and plan to start that on Monday, I think it will fit better in my lifestyle.

Yes, Cardio will hinder your muscle growth if that is your main goal. Remember that Cardio can be Catabolic (muscle consuming).. Think, have you ever seen a "bulky" distance runner?
