This aweosmely tanned man has been on a Dip and Shrug tear the last couple of weeks. I usually end my workouts with Dips until failure and shrugs (45 lbs) until failure and it feels soooo good.................damn!

Anyone else love these moves?

Dips and pull ups are two of the best uber exercises you can do, in my opinion. Being compound exercises, they bring a hole host of muscles into play. Employing the various forms of dips and pulls ups and chins, including gorilla chins, there isn't much upper body that isn't worked. Love them both. Although I guess you already know this, but if not getting enough pull up reps, one can employ bands until able to meet your goals.

    Shrugs with 45 lbs?

(I personally don't do them, I do handstands for the same effect, but isn't it more normal for those that shrug to shug like 10x that amount, shrugging in the area of what they deadlift or more?)

I was rocking the weighted dips and chinups last night. +75 lb for each for the peak sets. My pulling strength with chinups and pushing strength with dips are precisely balanced, making it easy to superset them when working weighted.

I love them both but with dips always listen to your elbows - easy to blow them out whilst going heavy.

Don't shrug since I deadlift pretty heavy, and my traps have always just been genetically big.

Dips though, are great, great things.

Shrugs I work into shoulder day but I never get "excited" about them. Dips on the other hand I love. I stick them at the end of triceps and sometimes chest workouts. I've tried doing them weighted but I don't want to blow out an elbow so I generally put them at the very end when I'm the most tired. That always feels just about right. Difficult but still possible and it tends to squeeze out the last bit of response my muscles have. Great exercise.

Did dips forward yesterday. No weights, but i will use the Jenny Craig weights(10lbs) for tricep shrugs every now and then. Love them!!!

Looking forward to shrugs today!! I don't really go too heavy on strugs maybe a 25lb plate for each hand

Haven't really done shrugs since going to a bodyweight protocol. But I was pumped to finally get a PROPER dip setup for my home gym (using 2 chairs just wasn't doing it).

I love me some dips and pull-ups, I have stopped doing shrugs more or less since I started deadlifting 2x/week. I feel it in my traps plenty so I don't see a need to hit them again with an isolation.

If shrugs make you feel awesome though then do it up!! You would probably love deadlifts though.

^^ This. I don't shrug either because of Deadlifting. I'll do Weighted Dips on Power days though.

Yes indeed usually shrugs are done way heavier than that. But I was just reffering a until failure(maybe what 40 reps straight) ,light, at the END of a workout type, last minute before I leave for the locker room type burn
