1 lb/month normal?

I've had my setting on weight loss 1 lb/week since the end of may 2012, but i've only lost 8 lbs since then. it's been 8 months and although i havent been eating strictly at my goal, i have definitely been eating to lose more than that.. what is wrong?!

how much do you have to lose... i only lost 0.5-1 lb a month, i had 25 lbs to lose. it came of super slow but it did come off. who knew it would take a year to lose 20 lbs...0

Are you sure you don't mean 1lb/week? 1 pound/month isn't very much, but whatever works for you! I'm sure you'll be able to stick with it!0

I'm also confused as to what the question is about this. It seems like things are going perfectly according to plan. You wanted to lose one pound per month, you lost one pound per month.0 -

It's set to 1 pound per week. OP is losing one pound per month. The original lb/month was a typo, probably due to it having been on OP's mind from the title.0 -

i'm eating at a net of 1350 a day, up to 1600 total (still netting around 1400) on days i run or do other exercise.0 -
how many cals do you burn on a exercise routine... how much do you want to lose..... all that takes in to effect on how you lose... are you weighing you portions, measuring... logging everything honestly, even sauces, butter, sugar, etc0

I think that how much you weigh right now, really has a lot to do with it, and also how long you've been losing. You may need to increase or decrease your calories. If you are very overweight, you will lose more quickly. If you only have 20lb's to lose, they are going to be a b*!@h to get off! Lol. Try this, it works, I swear, that is, if you've been losing for some time, and are kind of plateuing now, increase your calories enough to gain 1-2lb's, try n keep it healthy, though. Then lose those 1-2 lb's again, and gain it again. Once you do that, you're body will "reset," so to speak, and will be ready to burn that fat off again. Hope this helps! :happy: BTW, this is not just something I came up with, this is information I learned from doing the Curves Complete. I have done it myself, and it works great!0

I notice that if I eat food from McDonald's, even if it's a grilled chicken sandwich (- mayo) n a side salad, I don't seem to lose anything, but if I eat home cooked, healthy food, I do. :indifferent:0 -

A calorie is a calorie regardless of the source. You wont lose weight because its masked by water weight caused by sodium.

Op, what are your stats and exercise routine?
17 years, female, 5'6, 127 lbs.. the only reason i'm looking to lose the last 7 lbs is because its body fat.. i'm okay being the same weight if i knew it were muscle! i run 5 days a week, and weight train 2-3 days a week. i'm frustrated that although i've lost 8 lbs already i haven't seen any muscle definition or physical gain. i don't know if my loss is from muscle or fat. thanks for your help!0 -
The ideal weight range for a 5'6 female is between 123 lbs and 154 lbs. I'd say you probably don't need to loose anymore weight. At 17 you're still growing. I think a female teenager requires like 1800 calories a day at a minimum.0

Could be, but all I know is that I don't lose as much if I eat poorly too often, even while staying under my calories. There's only so much water you can retain. Not saying to never eat a cheeseburger, I just don't plan on losing as much, if I'm going to eat foods that are too unhealthy, too often. And another thing, is that when we eat fatty foods, we feel like crap, and don't feel like doing as much, less energy, and less desire to exercise.
