anyone live by me& use 24hr fitness? Need a gym buddy

Hey, I know it's a long shot, but you never know right? I live in Loma Linda, CA. I go to the 24 hour fitness gym about a mile away. I got about 130 lbs to lose. I've tried talking to other patrons at the gym, while working out, or dropping off my baby at the kids club, and no luck :( I think it's be a good way to stay on track knowing that there was someone at the gym waiting to talk to me when I was working out. not just listening to music waiting till i'm too tired to do anything else.

Sorry, but I'm not close to you at all although I understand the desire for a gym mate. Maybe you need to switch up your routine if you're feeling like you're "waiting till i'm too tired to do anything else"? I have about the same amount to lose as you and the gym is kind of a weird place to talk to people who want to get in and out asap. I like listening to music and I think it's the only way I can go hard during a workout, but I know it's not for everyone.

I've been doing intervals of speed and incline to keep things from getting too boring. I think it helps distract me from the actual thought of "working out" and breaks up the mundane action where I start to feel tired. Also trying out different machines will help keep things fresh too. I've been pretty dedicated to just one machine each time I've gone, only getting on the treadmill or elliptical. I'm considering adding in rowing, stair master, cycling and more weights. Maybe people are more amenable in classes vs. gym? I've also seen people read during their workout, so maybe that might be something to try out? Magazine reading is always fun.
  • I would be very careful if I were you.
Even though this is a website that seems harmless, it's still the internet.
Make sure you meet someone from here with caution.

Join a group fitness class. Since members there obviously work out there, you've got a better shot of making friends and buddies. Also if they are taking the same classes, you already are sharing the same interests.

I start out with the elliptical. usually 12/9 and I increase it every 100 cals by 2. mainly just as a warm up. then I go around then gym, use some machines, and try some new ones. I'd love to try the zumba class, but im too chicken s*** to go by myself and work out in front of people. outside of class everyone's in their own zone so no one watches ya know? I also try to do some workouts at home. been sick for a week so its been minimal.

Agreed on the statement about joining a fitness group or taking the same class/classes each week. That is how I met people at my gym :-)
