This is a time to change

Well, I am committed this time. I have said this before, but this time it's different. I'm getting older and I haven't got any healthier living the way I have been for the past 29 years. I want to not always feel like garbage, I don't want to feel like an 80 year old man every day I get up and have to deal with a sore back or sore knees because I'm overweight... I'm tired of having to monitor my blood sugar. My doctor said that most of my health issues will go away or be less severe if I lose 25% or more of my body weight... I agree. It's time for a change, and this time I have to stick with it. Not just for me anymore, but for my daughter. I want to be there for all her important life events, I don't want to die young because I was unfit. This time the weight comes off and stays off. No more slacking, no more excuses.

Who's with me?

  • Congratulations on the decision, welcome here, and yes, please stay with it.
Yes, for the sake of your daughter. I wish everyone with kids I know did that for them. You want to be still there with them in 20, 30 years, and you want to be a role model. They need that from you. "you are losing the right to destroy yourself" (the Hip Mama Survival Guide).
Wishing you all the best. Weight loss is good, but exercise is even more important than weight loss, according to all I've read and experienced myself.
    Hugs!
  • Hi I'm quite new to all this. I'm am currently on the atkins induction phase, I train daily too. I'me addicted to keep fit and it feels great. Can't weight to reach my ideal weight. Long way to go yet..

Day 5: -8lbs lose. I guess most of this is water weight.

If anyone fancies adding me then great stuff, any extra motivation or ideas we can share can only help us.

Ps. How do I add my ticker like everyone else has done? (Newbie)

I'm trying to train 5-6 days a week. I have a hard time with going too hard and being too worn out to do it two days in a row. It's funny, if you saw me in real life you'd never think a person my size could run 5 miles... But I've ran a couple of 5 mile races in the past, with another one coming up in March. My primary issue is overeating and not realizing how much garbage I'm actually putting into my body. By cutting out a lot of unnecessary calories and junk (like diet soda and energy drinks), I'm sure I can make a big change and have it last.
