What's a good beginner workout dvd?

Alright everyone, I mean a BEGINNER workout dvd. I am 225 lbs and the only activity I have been doing lately is playing with my 4 year old daughter. My husband came home from work and mentioned trying Tapout XT together. My husband is about 40 lbs overweight and doesn't have the best knees. I was doing research and found out that this program wouldn't really be the best one for us to start out with. We are looking for something that doesn't require equipment and we can do in our home. We've recently changed our diets and lost a little bit of weight. However, we are looking for a good starters dvd/dvds so we can work our way up to something like Tapout XT or Insanity. Any suggestions for something my husband and I can do together? Thanks!

I would say the 30 day shred by Jillian Micheals. Yes, you would need hand weights but you can still do the workouts without them. You can find the workout on youtube. Just try level one with the modified person (Anita) and if you don't like it that is okay.
Just a suggestion though.0 -
try a zumba dvd it's fun and not very hard, nor is it high impact. I was a true couch potato and i love this so much i went to take zumba at the gym0

Well, assuming that your husband is one of those allergic to "girly" DVDs, I would recommend taking a look at Leslie Sansone. I think some of her videos are on YouTube. I also used the Shapely Girl DVDs when I was just starting out. They use larger people in the video so they weren't as intimidating for a beginner.0

I think Leslie Sansone is a good idea to start out too. You feel a workout, but it's not too overwhelming at first. It's hard to start a workout program and you don't want to get "turned off" to exercise by killing yourself at first. I know someone who lost 100 pounds simply by careful dieting and Leslie Sansone's tapes.0

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. We're kind of trying a mix of things everyday to make sure we do work out and to pick a good program. We bought a game for our XBOX, it's a UFC Trainer Game and we've just started one of the programs. I am also doing the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels during the day to give my metabolism a boost (my husband and I workout in the evening about 4 hours before bed). I have not been able to do the whole 27 minutes of the 30 day Shred but I have worked up to about 15 minutes from 9 earlier this week. I'm going to check out Leslie Sansone like a few of you mentioned as well. Thanks again everyone!0

I would NOT say 30 day shred at all! I was 216lbs, and only exercise was from my two year old son. I almost died after 10 minutes of the DVD and couldn't walk properly for 4 days after! I would recommend any davina mcall DVD, or any zumba! You can follow so many YouTube videos for totally free, try a few different things and see how you feel! Two weeks on and I'm now 209, and did my first day of 30DS today! Still a killer but zumba and walking really helped my fitness levels.0

I agree, I started with "Walk Away the Pounds" and progress through her videos. My husband did it with me After a while I was able to do the "Firm".0
