Ok, so i planed on starting a new workout DVD today i ordered a bunch of jillian micheals workouts...and guess what?!? My knee started acting up...So untill the pain goes away and the swelling from the arthritis goes away i guess i will be sticking to something more simple. I wont be able to do jumping jacks and all that :( Does anyone have any ideas for a good workout that wont involve me knee too much since i cant really do anything with it just bending it to get my shoes on hurts :( i dont want to not workout till it gets better either i took a little break over the holidays and im ready to get back to it and my fiance is joining me too so i dont want to give up. I thought about doing the rest of the workout and just not the jumping or anything too hard on my knee like lunges or squats but thats at least half if not more of the workout LOL (no more trouble zones, moving on from 30DS) If anyone has any ideas please help me out :)

Do you have access to a stationary/exercise bike. The low impact is always a good thing for knee issues. Swimming is another if you have access to a pool. Beyond that there are plenty of upper body exercises you can do that involve little to no stress on the knees. The old traditional push-ups, sit-ups, crunches and such and many different variations based off them. You can also do a lot with a stability ball. You can get one for under $20 at Walmart and there are lots of exercises you can do with them that won't put stress on your knees.

Here's a nice list of body weight exercises I found via Google (Just google Body Weight Exercises to find more):

The same site also has a top 20 for Stability Ball Exercises (google: Stability Ball Exercises):

I dont have acess to any of that :( but i have my fingers crossed that this flare up goes down over the next few days, so i just need something to get me by till then hopefully no longer than a week. I will just stick to basic moves for now
  • skip jillian and use the Walk away the Pounds series with leslie Sansone- I have NO hurt in my knees or joints doing her workouts but I do when I walk outside or try any other plan

I LOVE LESLIE SANSONE! I'd check craigslist for a bike or even an elliptical I find them easy on my knees... and I have SEVERE arthritis in my right knee...

I have arthritis in both knees which flare up from time to time so I totally understand. I avoid lateral movement , jumping jacks and anything that might torque my knees (some Zumba moves come to mind) and jumping. No jumping ever! I agree with the other posters, see if you can find an ellipitical or stationary bike on Craigslist., You can still get results from home videos even with leaving out or modifying the knee aggravating moves, I've been able to get good results with P90X by doing so. Best of Luck!
