TDEE

Alright, so I have been making little to no progress, so I decided to figure out my TDEE settings and such. Going by that number, I should be eating 1827 a day. This scares me because I am set at 1427 right now. I am afraid that increasing my calories this much is going to cause the scale to move in the wrong direction. I'm not quite sure what to do. I have been on here almost a year, and have only lost 35 pounds. And that varies from week to week. I know I could be doing more when it comes to exercising, which is why I recently bought a stationary bike. But as far as changing my eating habits, I have done extremely well. I eat more veggies and lean meats now than I have my whole life. I cut out all the pasta, fried foods, and sweets as well. I am just beginning to feel defeated. It hurts worse, because all my friends and family know I have started this lifestyle change, and the ones who haven't seen me in awhile kind of look at me like, you're doing all this and you can't even tell. I am just having one of those pity party nights, I guess, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I too am curious about this because according to my TDEE, I should be eating 2200 calories. YIKES!! I can't even imagine this!
Hang in there! Have you recently talked and taken your food diary to a doctor or dietician?0 -
Is that your TDEE at sedentary? What is your BMR?
Basically, you should eat above your BMR and under your TDEE. If you've been eating under your BMR for a long time, you might need to eat AT your TDEE and even a day of surplus or two to help bring your hormones back in order.0 -

Has anyone else made this big of an increase and still lost?
I'd love to know the answer to that too ! I've been eating 1200 calories but yesterday upped it to 1400 (My BMR is 1375). I know I didn't increase it that much...to be honest I'm scared to increase to what my TDEE which was over 2,200 per day. No Way !0 -

Yes...like many, I started out on 2 Lbs per week...I was miserable as MFP had me at 1,400 calories or thereabouts. I upped to 1,806 based on 20% less my sedentary TDEE...If I included exercise in my TDEE it would have been 2,070, which is very close to what I get when I net my exercise at a sedentary setting. I'm losing 1 Lb per week...slower...but I'm much happier and have more energy.0 -

That's probably your actual TDEE maintenance (2,200)...not TDEE - 20% as per the TDEE method. Net between your BMR and TDEE as DanaDark pointed out. It's math...you'll lose weight because you are still at a deficit of your TDEE maintenance0
