Feeling Sick from Healthy Foods?

I've been eating healthier and trying to substitute "good fats" (nuts, avocado, etc) for my crappy snacks (Hot Cheetos, sugary chocolate, etc.) over the past couple of weeks. One thing I've noticed is that I tend to feel sick after eating my new replacement snacks. It's not like my body isn't used to eating fatty foods, it's just that I'm eating "better" fats now rather than the trans and saturated fats in my typical, empty-carb snacks. For some reason, my body isn't responding well and I get nauseous, especially after nuts, cheese, and avocado.
Does anyone else experience this? Has it gotten better over time? Any tips? I don't want to stop eating these snacks because I'm afraid that if I do, I'll miss the fat and I'll revert to my old, less healthy habits! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Maybe cut back on the fatty snacks and replace them with some fruits and veggies. Just because you ate junk before doesn't mean it was a lot of fat, could have just been a lot of carbs.0

Maybe you have food allergies.0

Thanks, I am eating more fruits and veggies but I still crave fats since my old snacks did have a lot of fat. If I deprive myself of fatty foods and just eat fruits and veggies all day, it won't be sustainable for me and I'll eventually just binge eat all the old crap that I've missed. I don't think I have allergies because I've eaten all these foods within other things (avocado on burgers, nuts in baked goods and salads) but on their own, they seem to make me nauseous.0

OMGG. I was going to post something just like this! Since I've switched my diet, sometimes I feel nauseated!! I actually vomited today after I drank my shake (greek yogurt, strawberries, banana, almond milk, and ice).
Not to mention, KILLER headache0 -
Then mix them. Eat nuts and seeds with dark chocolate and/or raisins/craisins. Make guacamole, and have it in a chicken wrap. Take your B vitamins with the fatty food as well, as they will absorb into your body better!0

Yes! This happens to me if I eat too much fat (even good fat) in general! To sort of offset it, I will try to have a balanced snack. For instance, if I have almonds I have to have a piece of fruit with them. Avacado goes in a bowl with salsa on it. Greek yogurt gets a scoop of berries. If I mix in fruits and veggies with the higher fat snacks I find that it sort of balances eachother out. Sort of like when I used to eat really poorly for a day and then crave a salad at night0

Do you have the same problem after eating raw veggies? Does your stomach bloat? Maybe talk to your doctor about your digestion speed.
I have GP and can tolerate the nasty high carb crap because it processes faster, but slower processing -high fiber foods like nuts, raw veggies, etc will cause me to bloat, have nausea and feel terrible.
I cook my veggies before eating them- always and never eat the skin. My snacks are hard boiled eggs and chicken.0 -
Just a thought, I might be way off base, but if you're suddenly feeling sick while eating high fat foods, where you don't feel sick when you eat a similar amount of fat, but combined with some empty carbs with it -- like potato chips, it makes me think of some issues I had with my gall bladder. Do you ever have a pain under your ribs on the right side?0

These headaches could be from sudden decreases in caloric intake. I get a headache and lightheaded on days that I don't drink enough water or eat enough. If you really want some sort of fat that's similar to your former habits, get some natural peanut butter and use a tablespoon of it on a piece of toast, or make a pb&j with some natural jam or something along those lines.0

Oh, nvm. I misread the post -__-
I'm feeling sick from eating good foods, haven't had any bad food in days.0 -
Thanks so much for the tips!! I'll try to keep my snacks more balanced and see if that helps, and I'll consider digestion speed and mention that to my doc. I appreciate everyone's help!0

OMG! I get like this all the time. If I have an apple by itself, I will get so nauseous and my lips get warm and stuff. Happens with bananas and a few other healthy things. It's usually fruit that does it though.0

^^ this was my first thought too. Low carbing makes a lot of people feel sick. If you cut your carbs way down, you could be feeling sick from that.
Although, do you mean like, RIGHT after you eat the food you feel sick? Sick how?0 -

I hadn't thought about that - I've been patting myself on the back for my lower carb intake but maybe I need to taper off more slowly! The sickness is mainly nausea and slight headaches.0 -

Sorry - I know you weren't replying to me, but out of curiosity, why do you say almond milk is horrid? In terms of taste? Nutrition?0 -

I used to drink coffee daily, as well as sodas.. so maybe thats where the migraines are coming from. But thanks for the smoothie tips! Most certainly going to try it. You learn as you go.0 -

I just wanted to say that I think you are awesome for doing what is right and knowing yourself. This post made me smile. I am sorry you feel sick but you are trying to do the right thing and I hope that makes you very proud. :flowerforyou:0 -

Soda is satan. If you are drinking diet sodas that could be one of the reasons for the headaches. Aspartame is poison.0 -

Aww - your post made my night! Thank you!! I have a lot of trouble maintaining progress and I tend to "self-destruct" at the slightest trigger, so I try to take good note of my patterns and plan accordingly. Thanks again for taking the time to make me smile.0 -

Stupid question. What is GP? That sounds just like what's going on with me. Thanks for your reply!0
