Plank

I know holding the plank is supposed to be really good for your core. I can hold a plank for a grand total of 40 seconds lol its awful. Will doing it every day or twice a day for as long as I can really help my stomach muscles that much ?

The plank is a really good exercise to do, for core, and it works your quads, and pecs, and biceps, and everything just to hold yourself in that position. Easy to do if you don't think about it. So maybe put something on TV and watch, or listen to a song and try and hold it for that long. It is very effective, and such an easy one to. Maybe mix it up with some side planks, or walking planks so you aren't holding that static position for that long, then you will find gradually you'll be able to do it for longer, you'll see the results... I love the plank, as it is always challenging but is so worth it!! Good luck!! :) x

Mix it up with some leg drops or sit ups, into plank also, then do a 5 minute ab session each day, that'll definietly make a difference!! :) x

Thank you :) I am starting ripped in 30 in feb and there is a lot of different plank moves in that ! So I will try and do the plank 1 or 2 times a day until I start so I can hopefully get the best out of my dvd when I start :)

It's a great exercise, and I was doing planks for more than 2 minutes until I had to have surgery (totally unrelated to planks) so right now I'm not even allowed to try to do planks.

Yes, if you do them regularly and really push yourself, as in try to hold it as long as possible and keep trying to beat your best times, even if only by a few seconds, you will improve your time and strengthen your core (including your abs) I went from struggling to do 45 seconds to doing over two minutes in a about 2-3 months (I was eating at a surplus though and doing it as part of a weight training programme to gain lean body mass though)
