My injury has done me in!

Hey everyone,
I think I just need to vent about this. I had weighed myself last week and lost two pounds. I was so happy because I am the heaviest I have ever been in my whole life not to mention the idea of my wedding just makes me want to cry.
Last night, I thought I would be smart and try my hand at softball. I hadn't played since last year, but I figured it wouldn't be that hard. HA! I am sore all over. Not to mention the fact that I can not find any time to exercise. Between being a single mommy, working, school work and house work; I think I am luck just to have enough time to get some sleep. I want to take better care of myself, but I weighed myself today for my weekly check in and found out that I am 210!!!!! Right now, I am just so depressed, I really don't want to do anything. HELP!

I'm so under pressure too ... Oscar ( the man I'm marrying) 's mom is comming to visit next month. I have never met her. But Just keep doing it, That is why we are all here so that we can do it.... Your not alone. We are in this together.0

Well I can tell you one thing. And I can only say this because I really do know what you are going through. If you do nothing....well of course you will get nothing. So picjk yourself up right now and make the small changes it will take to see some results once you see those beginning results it will motivate you to do more.
I am also a sinlge mom of two and if you think they are going to let me do anything for me in front of them you are silly. I can not afford to go to the gym because I get no financial help supporting them, so I do the little things I can like park further away from wal-mart. Or take the stairs instead of the escalator we will swim this year at the pool. No I am not getting the full cardio I need but I am doing something and it is helping.0 -
You have to find 30 minutes for yourself, to destress and get healthier. It will also help with energy and keeping up with all you have to do. Plan your day out and make an appointment for workout days so you are more likely to fit exercise in.
If you go to a gym, the kids can go to the kid gym
If you workout at home ask another mom to watch your kid(s) for 30 minutes while you break a sweat
Hate to say it, but maybe get up 30 minutes earlier
find ways to exercise with the kid(s), like while they play at the park you lap the playground
Take time while at school to hit the track and do a few laps
Easier said than done, I know or I wouldn't be here! But I have found ways to get my workout time in, like easing up on the housework, I plan housework for my no workout days and the rest of the week I have to ignore the fact that the floor needs mopped until I get off the treadmill. You can do this!0 -
You've come to the right place, so you must admit yourself that you are doing something right. Try not to think about your total goal and just focus on one day at a time. It really does work. Stick with the program and relax and before long you'll see positive changes and start to feel differently about things. Good luck.:flowerforyou:0

All in all, you need to find an exercise that you ENJOY and do it EVERY DAY (or 6 days / week anyway). But in response to your post, I have one suggestion and one comment.
Suggestion:
See if you can get a used cardio machine, like a stationary bike, on Craig's List or eBay for cheap, and put it in a corner of your living/play/family area - preferably across the room from the TV. Then you can work out in the same room while you and/or your kids watch TV. This is how my mother got in a bit of exercise when I was growing up. Alternatively, you can do situps, light weights (even soup cans work) and lunges, etc. on the floor. Your kids might even get in on it with you.
Comment:
After tearing a piece of muscle off of my shin 2 years ago, and developing a nerve condition in my foot, I feel comfortable telling you... BEING SORE IS NOT AN INJURY. Take some advil and take it easy for a day. After working your muscles, soreness is expected. It means that you did something good and you should feel proud of that, not upset. The only exception is if you pull a muscle in your back or leg, or sprain a joint - but that's not sore - that's PAIN.0 -
I think what I "hear" in your post are three things. 1. I don't have time. 2. This is painful to me. 3. I am not sure I will get a good result. All three of these things are tied together. If you are not sure you will get a good outcome and result then perhaps it might not be worth the time and the discomfort.
My friend, I'm here to tell you, along with many, many others, that it is worth it. On the positive side there is nothing that you do for yourself that is wasted. Every time you take care of your self you have saved your child from eventually having a mom who may not be able to care for them very well. You take care of yourself first. Really. Then you will be able to care for their needs. I know it sounds selfish and it would be if you denied them time and affection for more ice cream but this is your health we are talking about here. So, make up your mind to be encouraged and get out there and conquer the world because you can, you deserve it and your child deserves it a mommy who conquers. That is how kids learn to conquer too.
You are a very, very important part of the equation in many lives and so it is absolutely imperative that you take care of yourself. Little people can be demanding and wonderful but we don't get to keep them forever. You have to take care of yourself now to be able to care for them later. Don't give up! It is worth it every day!
I believe it you as I am sure many other do because many of us have suffered some to gain our health back. You have what it takes and the pain and time are worth the results. What kid doesn't want a mom they can "do stuff with?" You are that person.0 -
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply. I know I am not much of an encouragement to myself, but it was good to see all of the people around who have been in my shoes and know how to get back out of them. I have some good ideas.
1- I have to take it one day at a time. I know I might not be good at taking care of myself all of the way, but it will be the little things that will get me through.
2- Minor set back. Heal up the sore muscles, and then keep going.
3- I'm worth it and so is my daughter.
Thank you so much everyone! Y'all have been a great encouragement and help. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -

Good for you for turning that frown upside down!
One day at a time is so cliche but it is the only way to win this battle. I, too, and many others, have very busy lives. There are times that some things just have to be sacrificed so I can get one hour of workout in everyday.
Let the laundry sit unfolded for a little while longer and go for a walk!0
