Im also 5'8'', but I am just starting Medifast Saturday. So I am not a success story , YET! I am also interested in replies to this post, and hopefully with pics. I feel it is motivating when you see someone that started about the same place you are starting.

Check out my profile pic...I'm exactly 5'8". I'm hoping for 15 more pounds...but the change so far has been drastic. Since it was gradual, I didn't know how drastic until I put together the after/before pic.

I'm 5'8" Here's what has happened to me:

Had my 4th baby last April - weighted settled at 195pounds
Piddled around trying to lose ... by end of July was only down to 193
Ramped up exercise and joined MFP and in a month was 186
Stalled for a bit and joined First Place 4 Health at my church. Starting weight was 186 (in the evening, which is normally about 2 pounds heavier than in the morning when I normally weigh in...so let's say 184 at the begining of October)
Resisted making the big changes that FP4H suggested and slowly took off weight while my heart was busy making the bigger changes.
Weighed in after Christmas at 174.
    GOT REALLY SERIOUS!!! lol
Started doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred on Jan 1
    Log my food EVERY DAY
I'm now down to 167 pounds (took a couple of weeks of 30DS before the scale started to move!)
I'm going to wrap up 30DS in 8 more days THEN I'm going to start Insanity
March 1st, my sister in law and I are going to start running to get ready for the Warrior Dash in July.
I expect to be down to 150 by the end of March
Then I plan to take all of April, May and part of June to be down to 140 by my 32nd birthday June 16th!

Still figuring out how to load pics!

I am interested in success of the taller variety of us too. I'm 5' 9". I am curious what my real life goal weight should be. I am 46 afterall so i have no desire to return to the size 10 of my youth. Any suggestions and before/after pics would be motivation for me.

I'm 5'8", 27, and have 2 kids. I currently weigh 144 and wear a size 7/8. Some of these were pictures I took for my 8 week Turbofire results and I weighed 149 then (2 1/2 weeks ago). I weighed 235 during both pregnancies and was still 215 when my youngest was over a year old in Nov 2009 when I decided to take control of my health and lose the weight. It took me about 6 months to lose 55lbs and I had maintained around 160 ever since. I kind of fell off the exercise and healthy eating wagon about 9 months ago though and was just feeling run down and looking flabby. I started an amazing workout program called Turbofire on 11/12/12 and have lost 17 lbs and toned up all over.
Good luck to you all on your health and fitness journeys! :flowerforyou:
I can't find any full body before pics...

I am 5'9 and currently 180 pounds, I dont know what to set as my goal weight as I have no CLUE what my body will look like at 150, 140, 130, 120? Will I look to skinny and weak at 120? Would a 150 pound body suit me more?

i love this thread. totes watching this. I THINK i'm 5 8 - 174cm tall - and I've lost weight before and gone down to a Nz 12 (American 8) which is great with E cup boobs lol. This time around I'm aiming for similar results. Currently a kiwi size 14-16 (American 10-12 I think) so yeah, down a couple of dress sizes and about 20kg would be awesome. So far I've lost about 6 kg and my current wardrobe fits great.

Body fat % is more important. I just remember my body at 150 so I want that agian.

wow! IrishChick, brandi, you both have done some amazing work, incredible transformations. Being 5'8 it's nice to see different body types as the weight is dropped.

    Glad you shared:wink:

No before/after pics (you could check out my profile pics if you really want to).
    No big weight loss.
I guess I'm more of a maintenance story.
    I'm 5'8" and around 124#.
I'm on MFP to keep myself accountable with calorie intake.
My ongoing goals are healthy eating and consistent work outs.

I'm 5'8" now (I have shrunk) and still very much a work in progress. I have set my goal at 155 since that would put me in a healthy BMI but I am 60 yrs old! My daughter thinks this may be too low a weight for me so I will clear it with my doctor next time I have an appointment. I need to get a recent photo but I am down 57 pounds since June 2012.
  • Hi I'm 5'8" and 47 years old. Beginning of May last year I weighed 192lbs and joined MFP on 17th May. Lost steadily and am now 150lbs and a UK size 12-14 bottom and a 14 top. Have maintained since before Christmas and am happy at my weight as I look quite lithe and slim. Think I may try and drop another half stone though in Spring and see how I get on. You can do it x

I think it is so difficult to compare even at same heights. For example I am 5'8 and currently 145lbs (UK size 12) - but I don't look half as good as some girls who are my height and way 10, 20lbs more than me!!

I do need to do more strength work on my core but at the same time I also need to lose fat.
My goal is 133lbs or a UK size 10, whichever comes first!!

I'm 5'8" and I'm pretty close to my goal weight. Really, just trying to tone up now and lose those last 5-10 vanity lbs. I was 210 at my heaviest in 2010 and I've lost @45 lbs. I was able to lose weight just by watching what I ate when I was in my 20s. It got a lot harder as I got older. Don't do anything extreme. Just count your calories and exercise if you want to get strong.

Feel free to ask me any questions.

I am 5'9" and I look my best at 150 - 155 lbs. If I get any smaller I start to look too skinny.
