Eggs and bread

Is it good to eat eggs and how often should you have them? What kind of bread do you eat and what do you look for to pick the best choice with so many bread in the market?

    Whole eggs are nutritious, more so if you choose omega-enriched. Assuming you are healthy you can eat them daily if they fit in with your macro split and you enjoy them. Egg whites are pure protein but contain little in the way of vitamins and minerals.

    Eggs + Bread = <3

    Eggs are good for you, I generally eat 1 or 2 a day. Bread, well that's a preference thing. If you want something with more fibre go for the whole wheat and grain ones (make sure it says 100% whole wheat). Otherwise, just pick something you enjoy that you feel is worth fitting into your goals. I like sourdough rye, personally :D

    I agree with the eggs advice but watch how many yolks you eat = fat. As for bread, well the government has pushed us to believe that whole wheat bread is good for us because of the fiber. But they subsidize that industry so it is in their best interest to push wheat. It is supposed to digest slower but it still is just a very heavily processed junk food with little nutrition for the calories. I just call it a filler, not food. If you eat color you will be a lot healthier. (veges).

    I normally eat two eggs a day and another two or three whites. They are a brilliant, balanced and cheap food.

    While bread doesn't really have as much nutritional bang for your buck I still eat it because I like it. Normally in the form of wholemeal sandwich thins or wrap bread. I will treat myself to some fresh baked Casa or Sourdough on occasion also

    I eat the Sara Lee bread. 45 calories a slice. Have about one slice a month.

    I only eat Wasa Finn Crisps and even that very sparingly. (I had my first real white roll in 2 months yesterday but I won't eat again for a while.) Bread made me fat and I know it.
    Eggs, on the contrary, are good. Favourite is omelettes with all kinds of vegetables put in (spinach especially). It has a really nice texture and you can fold it and everything. :)

    My everyday bread is Aunt Millie's whole grain 80-calorie a slice stuff. Usually have 2 slices a day, one with a tablespoon of peanut butter and one with a PAM-fried egg.

    On big calorie-burn days (my weekly long run will zap over 900 calories), I'll splurge on crusty bread with dinner. I love bread too much to deny myself forever, and knowing I've got some coming up in the near future keeps me on track.

    Whole eggs are good for your health, including the cholesterol that's in the yolk, it influences an improved cholesterol profile in the majority of people. I get my bread from an artisan baker who uses grains from a bygone era and uses a wood burning oven, can't beat that. If I get bread at a store I normally search out Stonemill products http://www.stonemillbakehouse.com/

    Great, now I want French toast. However, the only bread in the house is sandwich thins, so I don't think that will work.

    We mostly get our grains from whole grain cereals. Steel coat oats, shredded wheat and Grapenuts, primarily.

    I also keep whole wheat flour on hand for making pizza dough, naan or pancakes, but I don't think I have done any of that yet this year, as I was pretty much binging on whole wheat naan just before Christmas.

    During my off season I was eating about 12 eggs a day. Wholegrain bread or Rye is good stuff. White bread is ok, there are worst things than white bread but it's not the best.

    I hear ya. I have a restraining order that doesn't allow me to be within 50 ft of butter tarts.

    Thank you all for your post. I will be 2 weeks tomorrow on changing my lifestyle. I know in past I ate to much bread, grew up eating bread for every meal and in between, LOL! I am not taking it completely out as it would be a diet plan then, instead I do not eat any white bread at all, limit my bread intake, buy only 100 percent whole wheat or rye bread. Try not to have at dinner at all. I also do wraps (good ones) and stuff with the veggies. I love these message boards, everyday is a new day and I am learning more about eating right each day. Thanks again.

    By the way after reading all the good remarks on eggs, had a veggie omelet for my breakfast today!
