I'm a year in on MFP and I completely agree. Victories big and small happen each and every day, being reminded of that really helps getting through the hard days.

What feels even better is inspiring people in real life to pay attention to their health and see how what they eat is such a big thing. Simply having their eyes opened to what the vending machine is doing to them is enough to help some people. I've had a number of people ask me what I've done to lose the weight and then I explain to them about this site and how it works. A few have gotten on here and taken it seriously and dropped some weight. Being an inspiration to others is also a great motivator to keep pushing yourself.

When people ask how I've managed to lose weight it's great to be able to tell them that all I've changed is how much I eat and how much I exercise. I used to pile food into my face like there was no tomorrow. I would commute to work, sit at a desk for eight hours and commute back to sit some more, then sleep.

The closest I came to exercise was dancing in nightclubs.

Eventually the dawning realisation set in; I was definitely obese and I didn't like it.

    To resolve the issue?
I've portioned my food yet still eat what I like.
I walk to and from work five days and go to the gym three days a week where I will walk on the treadmill and do some light rowing.

    That's it!

Since November I've dropped 36 lb from my original 234 lb bulk.
I'm doing so well that I have to readjust my goals to make them seem challenging. The original plan was to hit 182 lb within six months. It is now my intention to drop to the "ideal" weight for someone of my height and go for 168 lb!

I recently saw a photo of myself on a friend's Facebook page from a Christmas night out and I had a hard time recognising myself. It was pleasant! :)
