What am I doing wrong?

Options
I'm on my second week of using this website. First week I lost 3lbs and this week I 've lost nothing. absolutely zero.

how is that possible?

before I was just eating what I want and doing no exercise and now I'm eating 1390 calories or less and doing 20 minutes cross trainer a day plus a load of walking.

What am I doing wrong? :(

First off, your weight changes all the time for another of reasons... Just because you are under your call limit and exercised doesn't mean you will lose. You won't lose each week. Keep going and you will see a trend over time.

the first week I was on here I lost 4.2 LBS and the next week I lost 6 oz. With a big loss its not uncommom to lose little or nothing. I bet next week you will lose around 2 LBS.

The initial weight loss you will see will be mostly water weight, if fat came off that easy then everyone would look amazing

Don't expect fast results. Be patient! Also, so many factors go into the number you see on the scale so don't use that as your means of success! Losing weight is not about a number only, it's about the mental transformation as well.

Give it time. 2 weeks is not enough yet. Be patient :)

Same sort of thing happened to me. I lost nothing the first week I was here, then 2 lbs. the second week. This week (I've been here about 3 months now), I lost nothing despite exercising and not going over my calorie count. It happens.
Stick with it. The weight will come off. You're doing great.

could be anything, stick with it! :)

make sure you arent overdoing it too. i recently was holding weight for a few weeks, found between my exercises and reduced calories my net may have been too low, started eating more to make up for the exercise and started losing weight again. who knows.

weight loss takes time. Sometimes there will be weeks where there won't be progress. you aren't going to miraculously lose a huge amount of weight your first two weeks, let alone your first two months.

Don't rely on the scale either. It will fluctuate with water retention, etc. Weigh every 3-4 weeks instead of 1-2, and rely more on measurements. Measurements are the most accurate way to track progress.

Also, be aware that MFP expects you to eat your exercise calories back. And don't try to rush your weight loss. Good habits take time to create. You don't want to lose a bunch of weight and then gain it back because you didn't teach yourself portion control, etc.

And don't worry if you go 50 calories or even a 100 calories over. When you get your TDEE (whether through MFP or another website) - it already puts you at a deficit. Trying to undereat your calorie goals to create an even bigger deficit isn't going to get you to your goals faster either.

If you want, check out this link by MFPer Heliotsdan - It'll give you a detailed walkthrough (with pictures even) on finding your TDEE and calculating what you should be eating.

Yes, this is can all be overwhelming and complicated , but you are more than welcome to ask questions on the post.
One of the things that I have found that has been one of the best methods for me to get fit is to understand fitness. To understand where all these figures, etc come from.

The good thing is once you get the hang of it - it is something you'll be aware of constantly and you'll get a better understanding about your eating habits.

So I HIGHLY suggest making the effort to take every chance to educate yourself. Even if you don't end up going with any of these methods, calculations, etc - at least you understand what they are, where others are coming from, and maybe they will still be able to help you figure out what is best for you.

You just lost water weight the first week. You just need to relax about it for a week.
