just to rest my case, if any of you out there would not trade bodies with matthew mcconaughey (male) or -insert victorias secret model-if your female, then I stand corrected. If you wouldn't, then explain why.. And if you would, why wouldn't your goal be to create their body from yours.
I could care less about having my body look like any celebrity's body. I think that is the crux of your warped thinking. I'm guessing you feel this way so you think everyone does.
My goal is to maximize health, functionality, perfomance and physique in that order. Honesly, having a body like Mattew McConaughey or any other famous person, isn't even on my radar and sounds kind of shallow to me.
So, no, I'm not interested in "trading bodies" with anyone. I'm just fine making the best of the body God gave me, thank you very much.0 -

Why would i design my goal around a movie star? I dont have their genetics. My goal is to be fit and have abs. Not to look like someone in Hollywood. Btw, if you goal is to look like one of them, maybe you want to bulk up?

Be careful because you are doing a lot of exercise and you do need more protein, carbs and water. Maybe try a shake after each workout?
I know what you mean about being able to manage.
Do not get to a situation where you are eating so little that your body gets used to that low number of calories because when you get off the weight loss diet, you will put weight on when you return to your 2000 calories a day.0 -
So do you want to stay 145-150 when you get there? If so, slow down. Whatever you're doing to lose the weight needs to be something you can do forever, or once you stop doing it, you'll gain the weight back. If you're burning a bazillion calories and not fueling yourself, eventually your body will rebel and if nothing else, you'll be tired, cranky, etc (oh, I know you feel great now).
The biggest tip is slow down-you should be aiming for losing .5-1% of your body weight per week (about half what you're actually aiming for), and losing it in a way you can sustain. You don't "stop" when you reach your goal weight-you just carry on. So think about whether you can really live the way you're living forever and ever amen. I'm guessing probably not (if you're saying you can-give it another month or two then reassess your answer).
One of the most sensible pieces of advice I've ever read on MFP. Live every day (food and exercise) in a way you can sustain for the rest of your life. You don't need to give up whole food groups; you don't need to starve yourself; you don't need to work out for hours and hours. Lose slowly. Enjoy whole, fresh food. Do what it takes to maintain fitness. Develop patience.0 -

I am younger than you and would trade my body with a movie star. Maybe the sun in florida is warping your mind. Maybe you should learn that all of our goals are different than yours and only we can decide. Trying to belittle someone on their goals is just narrow minded.0 -

I am also 5' 4" and when I was 140 I loved being that size..anything smaller then that I looked way too skinny which I don't wish to be again..however I do want to get relatively close to my old weight but feel a lot better most importantly..and who said skinny means healthy because that is not necessarily true..I know a lot of "skinny" people who get out of breath really easily and could not keep up with a lot of the workouts I do...If you look at my profile pic which is a couple months back you would not know by looking at that pic that I was 200lbs..To each their own..what works for one doesn't necessarily work for everyone..OP you look great by the way keep it up0

Assuming that's your goal, to get a 6 pack. For the record, it is my goal. How do you know how much you will weigh to have a 6 pack? There are many variables to account for. You can't just randomly set a number.

Using your height, weight & age, I calculated your BMR (calories you would burn if you never got out of bed) to be 1590. Using the Harris Benedict method to calculate the number of calories you burn in a day (i did a conservative estimate of exercise 3-5x a week) and it says you burn 2465 calories a day. If you want to lose 1 lb a week, subtract 500 so you should be consuming closer to 1950 calories a day. I know this sounds crazy. Especially since you're doing something as strenuous as 500-1000 calories of working out a day (are you using a heart rate monitor? 1000 calories is a lot to burn. if youre using the MFP estimates, it may be overestimating) You shouldn't let your net calories (food-exercise) get below your BMR of 1590. Feel free to check out my diary if you want some ideas. I suggest having 5 or 6 smaller meals so you don't feel like you're stuffing yourself. There's like a million different ways to calculate your calorie needs. I like the calculators at bmi-calculator.net0

I am here to make a point that I feel very strongly about regarding peoples' scewed perspectives of the what are realistic goals for weightloss and fitness. I stand by it, and just because it's a little out of the box and unapologetic doesn't make it any less valid or appropriate. You and the other long member, if I may call you that, are entitled to your cushy, suppotive, and silver lined views on this topic. I take a harsher, more abarasive approach to motivation and life in general. I think this website turns too often into a bad oprah episode and needs an occassional shot of reality.0 -

Have you ever heard "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good?" Lots of wisdom there. Most of us have zero, zilch, no hope whatsoever of being mistaken for Matthew Mcconaughey or a Victoria's Secret model regardless of what we do. Shall we all give up now?
I'm in maintenance and happen to be at the low end of the healthy BMI range for my height. But it's because I naturally have a light, not very curvy build and long lean legs, not because I was any more or less motivated to shift the pudge than the OP is.0 -

Thanks, for me to burn 1000 calories it takes about 1.5-2 hours depending on my exertion level. I use a polar monitor which accounts my body fat %, height, weight and heartrate. It estimates that I burn lower amounts than the MFP which estimates really really high burns.
That dude is a reject, healthy Is not defined by being thin. Some o those models are healthy but the are few and far between. Weight loss pills, laxatives, starvation and cigarettes are not my idea of a good maintenance plan for my weight!!! And no I wouldn't swap. I think I'll look awesome at 145 I'm sure I 'could' lose more and I might decide to but honestly no more than an extra 10 lbs, I was a skinny teenager with no strength or endurance at 132lbs when I was 18. I was a size 4 and I have no interest in being that skinny again. I have 3 kids, I box and I like being strong, not being a waif that sways in the wind. I'm proud of what I'm accomplishing and I appreciate the support thanks everyone other than the body swap twit
