Can't get rid of hunger

For the last two days, I feel like I am starving and that is even after eating a meal. It is that time of the month so not sure if it has anything to do with it. I don't remember having this issue before. I am not having any crazy cravings just feel like I can't get enough food.
I workout using an heart moniter and I am ending up eating most of my calories given from MFP and the calories burned back and still am going hungry. I am trying to load up on water but then I feel bloated from so much water.
The last two days the excessive hunger hit while I was at work but it's not like I am very active at work. I take care of the elderly and it's mostly just hanging with them, a tiny bit of clean up after cooking and walking her dog.
I hope this doesn't continue too much longer. I don't handle hunger well but I am trying not to eat cause I believe I have taken in enough food and shouldn't need to eat.
Just for the record.. I am am eating 1740 a day. Last week MFP lowered it from 1790 so it's been a little bit of an adjustment but not much.

Are you meeing your protein goals? I wonder if you need more.0

I just went over the past six days and the difference between the past two days is that I have been under in protein compared to coming in over from earlier in the week. I will try to pay closer attention to it tomorrow. Thanks.0

I had a horrible time with hunger until I cut sugar to a minimum and raised my protien significantly. I cut sugar out all together 2 years ago & lost 50 lbs so I'm trying to get there again but its hard at first. I've been back on track for the last 10 days or so & I've noticed just yesterday that I actually go periods without even thinking about food, new for me
Also, I try to eat very little processed food & I find that helps a lot.
Plus drink a ton of water!! They say to drink half your body weight in ounces of water, etc 200lbs person would drink 100 ounces of water. I drink between 12-16 ounces a day.0 -
Are you close to your goal? If so, maybe switch your calories to lose a pound or half-pound per week instead of whatever you have it set to now?0

if you need to. Try switching to maintenance calories for a week, then set it back down to just a .5 or 1lbs loss.0

Thanks everyone, I am close to my goal to lose 50 lbs but still gonna be in the overweight. 50 was just a number I could try for without feeling overwhelmed in the beginning. I try to stay away from processed food as much as I can but it can be hard trying to cook for my client and myself using both of our own food. I will watch the protien for the next few days and if this keeps on this I will change up my goals as suggested. By the way, I am only set to lose one pound per week. Anymore seemed like I wouldn't have stuck with this lifestyle change.0

Yes you need to get that protein up closer to 100 and cut back a bit on the refined carbs to keep you feeling full.0

Losing weight can be done without feeling hungry.
Hunger is the most significant problem with weight loss. Weight loss attempts that result in hunger are not that successful. It is hard not to eat when you get hungry. It goes against our human nature. When we get hungry, we tend to want to eat more. The feeling of an empty stomach is very difficult, if not impossible, to tolerate and at some point we give in.
I consume a low number of calories but get all the fullness and satisfaction. I eat plenty of low-calorie fresh vegetables (except corn and potatoes) and fresh low-sugar fruits to help me feel full.
I control my appetite by eating lots of fresh non-starchy vegetables and fresh low-sugar fruits combined with small amounts of lean proteins.
Vegetables and fruits provide me with fiber, which in combination with lean proteins assure that I do not feel any hunger.0 -
Yes that time o' the month does that to me; even my nutrition confirmed that is a reality and not a myth. During that time I want to eat everything that is not nailed down lol. When I looked at my food dairy it was the only time I couldnt stay away from junk food lol.
I tend to forgive myself (since it only happens a few days out of the month) and go over my daily goal, I just log it ALL even if it makes me cringe and at least that way I have some accountability.0 -
Sometimes I get ravenously hungry during PMS, and all the protein and fiber in the world doesn't satiate it. If it's a particularly bad week, I up my calories if necessary, even if it puts me close to maintenance. It's just one week. As long as I don't go over maintenance that week, I consider it a win. Plus, it helps my body "calorie cycle", which can help prevent plateaus.
I'd rather go one week without any weight lost than be hungry and cranky on top of the other PMS symptoms.0 -
More protein, fat and fibre, they work together to confer satiety - MFP goals are minimums not ideals.0

Yesterday I felt the same way. I was hungry all day and evening. Gave in a little, weight in this morning and found I've lost two extra pounds this week! Maybe in some Weird way your body is saying" I’m loosing weight feed me"... just a thought.0

Thanks for everyone's advice. I get plenty of fruit but I do need to work on getting more veggies in. I woke up hungry so hopefully this isn't going to repeat itself today. I agree it would be pretty hard to lose weight and walk around hungry and mean all day! We are planning on getting us a deep freezer so I hope to be able to get reduce the amount of processed foods I eat by saving some lower calorie items in the freezer for my lunches and dinners away from home.0
