My name is Victor A. Cabral and this is my story! I graduated college in May 2012, welcomed my first child to the world in June, and I work at a special alloys company headquartered in Reading, Pa. In high school I was in okay shape. I wasn’t over weight, but I wasn’t fit either. I played basketball all through high school and that helped me stay in decent shape, but as I got older and started working, basketball started to play less of a role in my life. My senior year in high school I began to put on weight slowly. I went from 210lbs to 225lbs within a few months after graduating and as I started my college career things only got worse. Being away from home caused me to develop social anxiety while in college and although I tried to stay involved in student organizations, I kept to myself as much as possible and ate alone in my room. By my sophomore year in college I was up to 300lbs. People constantly reminded me about how overweight I had become, but instead of being motivated by the criticism, I let it contribute to my anxiety. As the years passed things got tougher for me, but no matter how bad the circumstances, I always kept pushing at least a bit at a time. At the end of 2009 and beginning of 2010 I started to lose some weight by dieting and working out every day. I was down 40lbs and was excited that things were going well, but a few months later I was evicted from my apartment. I was at an all-time low. I started working three jobs to get back on my feet, while attending school fulltime. Before I knew it I was back up to 295lbs.I was at a point where I felt uncomfortable taking my shirt off in front of my fiancé whom I’ve been with for 7 years. I was sick of it and I was depressed. I used my crazy schedule as an excuse not to work out and ate my life away. In fall 2010 I decided to leave school to pursue a job in my hometown. In November I was hired with the company I currently work for. When I got the job I decided that it was time to change my life. I had overcome many obstacles and this was just one more that I was determined to defeat. On November 25, 2010 I started my journey at 295lbs. Today is September 30, 2012 and I weigh 179lbs! Overall I’ve lost 121lbs! I was also hurt in the process and had knee surgery in June 2011 which slowed me down, but didn’t stop me! I exercised regularly and tried to eat healthy, but it hasn’t been until recently that I’ve taken my nutrition to a whole other level by keeping track of calories, macronutrients, etc. I lost all this weight while carrying a full time college schedule and working a full time job which required me to work 10-20hrs of overtime a week on the night shift. Today I dedicate my spare time to sharing my story with people and I’ve started a Facebook page to give people free advice and motivation to change their way of life. Please show your support by liking my page! Thank you FITNADIC.COM for allowing me to tell my story!
