Motivation to go to the gym!!!..

Hi everyone!! so i just wanted to share my motivation for getting my butt to the gym!!!.. i made a Gym Jar.. each time i make it to the gym for a workout i add a dollar. when i get to 50 workouts i either keep the money and continue adding or i go and buy something for myself! new shoes, get my hair done, ect.! nothing that goes against my diet that can hurt my progress just wanted to share and maybe this will help motivate someone else!!

What a great idea. Why didn't I think of that? Not a gym member, but I'll add a dollar every time I work out. Thanks for the tip :)

I see what you are going for with this idea, and I hope it works for you. But if people really don't wanna work out they'll find some excuse not to, and if they're broke that'll be the first. I dont have any money right now, can't work out. Quite frankly, the savings jar won't be enough to spur them on. The gym jar is nice but I applaud you for finding incentives to work out rather than excuses.

I get where you are coming from with this money reward. Since you have had a lot of success losing weight, what do you use for motivation? I love to eat and so far, exercising means I can eat more. That is not helping me to lose weight  That's Science for ya!! So for me just counting the numbers on the scale or what I burn does not seem enough motivation. I do like the Biggest Loser show and watching that seems to help get me off my butt without feeling the need to eat as a reward. ALSO for the topic post-er: Alevesques - Thanks for your idea to find a way to motivate doing a workout - you are coming from a very good place.

I'm glad someone already mentioned how this wouldn't work if you're broke - I just got an exercise game for the Kinect for Christmas, and I was horrified to think that I couldn't play if I didn't have a dollar for the jar!

So put in a quarter if you don't have a dollar...it all adds up to a treat at some point - new bottle of nail polish, new workout socks, sweatband, smoothie after the gym, high-end chocolate bar. It's a visual of how much you've done to keep you going when you're working hard but not seeing the scale move (am there right now, lol.) I guess you could use a gold star, but it's more fun to treat yourself to a little something.

That's a fab idea! For motivation I think to myself "do I want to not go to the gym or be skinny when I go to Malta in August?' The nearer it gets the better I am at dragging myself to the gym!

I accidentally happened to go to Malta, unplanned diversion of a cruise ship because Athens dock workers were on strike. It is a gem! Hidden treasure, one of the best experiences of culture. See if you can plan to visit the Hypogeum, an underground ancient burial site. You have to get tickets ahead of time as they limit # of visitors a day. Wish I was going soon! Have fun!
