Compression socks

I was wondering if anyone has experience with compression socks. My left calf has started hurting when running recently. I am hoping to find something to help resolve the pain soon, I'm training for a marathon this summer!!

People use compression socks to recover faster from a long run either by wearing them during their run, or wearing them after. If you're having actual pain in your calf during the run, that's nothing compression socks will solve.
Have you been fitted for running shoes from a local running specialty store (not a big sporting goods store)? Did you change anything about your runs (more hills, change in gait from trying not to slip on snow/ice, etc) that could be causing it? Is it tightness in the calf muscle that goes away after it warms up, or is it more shooting pain? Whatever you do, don't run through pain, it's your body trying to tell you something is wrong and to stop. Try stretching out your calves with a foam roller or with yoga.0 -
I don't see compression socks helping with pain. I use them to recover from long runs
I would suggest using a foam roller, it's realy kicked some of the knots out of my calves
I would assess what changed when you started getting this pain0 -
Nothing has changed, I've been running on a treadmill until the snow melts some more (I live in Alaska). I do have shoes and inserts that I have been fitted for, but I've had them for a while now. It may be time for some new shoes. Thank you for the advice0

You may have simply just tweaked it... RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation... see if that helps for a while (at least a week I'd say if it's truly hurting)0

Compression Socks are great. You will recover faster. You will feel better as well.
My favorite brand is CEP but I have friends who wear Compressport or Zensah.
Here is a link where I buy mine at LegsTherapy: http://www.legstherapy.com/brand/more-brands/cep/cep-compression-socks/cep-womens-running-o2-compression-socks.html
I like the pink :-) It wont make you run faster but you will get some attention.
For your pain, you should consider insoles from Spenco, they are really good and they have many different one for different conditions.
Hope this help
