I've just bought the hairy dieters cook book, loads of yummy recipies in it, so question is if you've got the book which is your favourite one?

I love the paprika chicken, but also made the chicken jalfrezi which is lovely and the lasagne but with wholewheat lasagne sheets rather than leeks as it didn't really work out for me.

Hi Tracey, I've made the prawn curry (needed a bit more spice in my opinion), the cottage pie, Italian meatballs, chicken Korma and the lamb stew so far. I would say the korma is my favourite and the meatballs. All the recipes are easy to follow. Happy cooking! :) x

I don't have the book but I've done a couple of recipes off the BBC website. Love the chilli in the tortilla bowls and I too use Quorn instead of mince, not because I'm a vegetarian but because of the lower calories.
I've also done the mince beef and potato pies using pizza base mix instead of pastry. Again I used quorn mince for even lower calories. I also used the pizza base mix for some chicken and leek pies, using lighter than light Philadelphia to make a creamy sauce.

I have made the skinny muffins and the lemonade jelly - both of which are awesome! Looking forward to trying out some of the savoury recipes, especially the Spanish Chicken that EmmaR25 recommends!

I've got Simple Tuna and Sweetcorn salad for lunch this week. Portions seem a bit off with it (gotta be realistic!) so split into 3.

Made easy prawn coconut curry this weekend. LOVELY. However the recipe made LOADS, you'd get 4 portions easily from what they say serves 2!

Crispy chicken is nice but doesn't keep too well, goes a bit soggy in the fridge so you have to re-crisp it in the oven if you have leftovers. Made 5 breasts from their recipe instead of 4.

Also made the chilli con carne, very nice.

Minted pea and feta omelette is lovely too.

But I think my favourite has to be the scrambled eggs and salmon on english muffin. Divine!!

This book is now my bible, ha.

I have prepared 6 of the recipes and that will be the end. The recipes are amazing but I have a family of 6 and most of these recipes take way too long for a busy mom.

There are so many better recipes out there that are easier and quicker to prepare
  • I have the scrambled eggs muffins almost everry day for breakfast, im addicted. For the mains i really enjoyed the lamb tangine. I'm also substituing some of the cooking oils for frylite where i can

I agree the recipes take a while but they went down well in my house, having said that I cooked loads of them last week and put on 3lb! Hopefuly there is another explaination for that, anyway, pasties and rice pudding my fave. I turned the lasagne into mousaka by adding allspice to the meat sauce and counting aubergines and olive oil as extra it was ok.

The risotto is divine. The Cajun spice chicken & the crispy chicken are both lovely. The korma is decent but JUST about falls short of the mark! My favourite had to be between the risotto and the prosciutto wrapped cod on the bed of roasted veg. Delicious. Their wedges are rubbish I have a far nicer recipie for tastier crispier wedges if anyone loves a good wedge!!

We got the book just after Christmas, have tried loads of recipies out of it!

Really enjoy the Crumpets with warmed spiced fruit and yogurt breakfast.

The lamb curry is amazingly good (and I'm from Bradford!!!)

Minted pea and Feta omelette is a regular fixture on our menus

Tagine, Meatballs, Paprika chicken, Parma wrapped Cod, Cottage pie, Jambalaya, Salmon in ginger sauce, ALL GOOD!

I've tried the Chicken Korma and Lamb, Spinach &Potato curry and they were really nice - in fact it's korma for dinner tonight!

Also tried the granola bars, personally they were a bit sweet for me and i really didn't like the texture - but that's just me so don't let it put you off trying them as the fruit and coconut tasted nice in them!

i'll be trying the skinny muffins at the weekend!
  • Hi - I bought this book as my brother had said how good the ones he had tried were. So I have made the Spanish Style Chicke bake and I must say it was really very good.

So will definitely be trying some of the other recipes.

Spanish style chicken bake and the homemade burgers are our favourites, I've never used a cookery book as much as this one, its like my bible. I made the chicken korma and froze portions for my daughter to have at uni! :-)
